new steps

Seen them at a dealer... screw to the floor just inside the door... piano type hinge and fold up inside the doorway during travel.
I was not crazy about the mounting of or the lack of easy removal if you winter and have a deck/porch entry constructed for use 4 to 5 months out of the year.

However, they are very sturdy and made of aluminum... the bottom has feet that will adjust slightly to attempt a leveling at the campsite.

i intend to order the steps along with the handrail. My wive has a disability and needs the stability. They hinge to the inside if the fifth wheel and latch. Need the actual width dimensions so i can order the proper one. Will need the 4 step model for my Montana 3402rl.

We saw these on the 2017's at a show yesterday. They are sturdy, they do rest on the ground on adjustable legs for uneven ground. They lift up inside the coach but are no more effort than folding the steel ones we have. BUT gone are the days of roadside potty stops unless you have 12 or more feet of space, and like has been said there's no way in a crowded rest area or fuel stop you're getting these steps down.

I saw these at the camp ground this afternoon. The "young" lady that was trying to get into the trailer while her hubby was at the dump station had a very difficult time opening the door. She could not reach the key lock and since the steps were totally inside, her hubby had to come over and open up. I am guessing that my wife would have the same challenge. But they sure did look sturdy and probably half the weight if the my fold up steps.

These steps do indeed tilt up to be inside the door and they are standard on the 2017 models although the fold-ups are still available on request. The body of the trailer has no cutaway section for the steps, so the fold-ups could not be installed if you do not like them. They can however be retrofitted easily on an older trailer. They were generally well received at the rally tour of morryde.

If the steps will work for you it is good.They will not work for us.Our OEM steps although not on the recall list did fail but our dealer welded and reinforced them.We are good.

I installed the glow steps on my 3455sa a year ago and they are the cats meow. Pricy but work great.

OEMs work just fine for us. When snowbirding in Florida, we have nice steps I set up and leave on site when not there.

How do these store inside without interrupting the door seal? It looks like they would let in outside air? If they are longer do they have a longer handrail for safety?

The problem I see people encountering (as a short old lady) is that I have go up two steps to reach the door handle on our fifth wheel - so would need to get out a step stool to open the door to get the steps down. Hubby is taller so it would not be a huge problem for us.

So from what we have seen we agree with most everything you have stated.
The one exception is where you state gone are the days of potty stops unless you have 12 feet of space.
Correct me if I am wrong but these steps only protrude out a maximum 4 to 5 feet at any point and when we park in truck stops we usually have that much space next to us????

Hi DarMar

My trailer is 8 feet wide, and as you accurately stated the steps stick out 4-5 feet that adds up to a minimum 12-13 feet of space. Correct? I doubt seriously if you're between two semi's in a rest area you won't be able to get them down.

We have been looking at these steps as a DRASTIC improvement over the fold ups we have with the only real perceived con being how far out they protrude when being deployed.

So far we decided one would only need about 2 or so more feet of space than we require now.

Our current footprint is 8 feet wide plus we need 2.5 feet minimum to actually open the door or 3 more feet if we want to deploy the dining
slide.

When we think of it that way we believe we may be worrying about nothing.

On our seasonal lot with deck we will simply remove the two bolts. On our recent fall trip we commented ever day how rickety and steep our current foldable are and may be an accident waiting to happen.

We give Montana and Keystone a two thumbs up for this one so far but time will tell.

One thing with these new steps is if you are in a ferry lineup or onboard the ferry there is no way you will be able to get into your Monty.
