mice, bed assy

Well, it finally happened to me. Got mices in the bottom...in the passthru area...and then up into under the bed via the two holes where the water and drain line for the washer/dryer and power run. Knew I should have sealed them earlier...bad johnny. So when I had the top of the bed platform off, I stuffed bronze wool into both holes and foamed the top as well as the underside of the holes in the passthru. That done and area clean...I find one of the bed platform rollers laying on the carpet with one short 8/32 wood screw. Really, just one screw and inadequate one at that?? Needless to say it is attached now with 1/4 inch diameter bolts and lock nuts. Traps set and waiting to see how many I get. John

Been there, done that. We used sticky pads. Caught a couple. We left a couple in the basement for a year, none caught.

The joy's of living in the woods.

Go to TSC, WalMart or other large hardware stores and see if you can pick up some Fresh Cab. I get mine at TSC(Tractor Supply Company) and it comes in a box with four packets wrapped in clear plastic. This is not a killer but a preventer. It is all natural herbs and I've used it now for more than five years and have not had a problem except for one critter and got him the night we saw him in the window as we sat at the campfire(long story)! Anyway, I normally pick up about three or four boxes and I put them in the propane tank areas, in the generator compartment, in the basement, and a few scattered throughout the unit under the dresser and etc. Just remember to take the packets OUT of the clear plastic because it don't do any good all wrapped up.

Most of us have had to deal with mice. Continuous traps for a couple of weeks took care of ours

Since we work for Fish and Wildlife we are almost continually in mouse country. I have my trap line out at all times. Hope you solve your problem quickly.

Well, the tomcat traps set in the basement got one mouse! The other trap is sitting and waiting for another customer. Fresh Cab sounds like a good thing to have by the levelers where we have the highway into the belly of the beast. Can't say enough good things about the design of the tall tomcat trap with the rear bait door which holds peanut butter securely and the mouse has to enter across the trigger floor to get near the bait. We are in Winchester Bay, Or. back in site on the South side have a high water area. I have caught to rats so far this winter. In 2012 In Gold Beach Or, at Turtle Rock Resort rats got in to the front storage area and chewed hole in my Hyd lines to the back two slides. Slowed us down when we wanted to leave. So I watch them now like a hawk. Good Luck on your hunt.

Once you're free of the mice, try a product called Mouse Free. We sprayed it on a number of key areas on the frame, and points of contact with the ground when we purchased our Montana two years ago and have not had any mice, ants or other critters. It has a mild mint odor, is non-toxic and is a deterrent, not a poison. It comes in gallon containers. http://www.mouse-free.com/
