I would like to throw a question at all the nice folks who would comment!
Thinking about Quartzite.....yes I have a generator but it's in Colorado...1200 miles from me. My 3150 has nice Onan prep including the panel and wiring. If I were to buy another generator that would fit in the compartment......does anyone know how to hook it up. I don't want the $8000 Onan ..my experience prior with Keystone and wiring diagrams not so great. Thinking would be nice to input power at this location rather than thru the normal power plug. Thanks

When I installed an Onan in my Big Sky all I had to do was run a flex conduit to the transfer switch and pull 3 wires from the onan to the box and hook them to the transfer sw. terminal strip. Next I plugged the cable from the start switch in the closet to the onan in, and ran a gas line from the Onan to the T in the propane line below the generator cabinet. Also had to install exhaust pipe to vent out the side of the trailer. Then pushed the button and checked for power. If you are trying to install a Honda or etc. it will not be that easy.

I do not recommend installing a portable generator in that or any other compartment in the RV. They are not designed for it and you can wind up asphyxiating the occupants of the RV or catching the RV on fire. If you decide to install a permanent generator that meets the manufacturers specs, I recommend that you have it installed by a knowledgeable professional. Your safety is at stake. JMHO.
