stain on roof
I have a brown stain on my rubber roof where the air conditioner runs across the roof. I have scrubbed it with Dawn. Didn't touch it. What should I use to remove this stain? I heard I can use Tilex or Mineral Spirits. Is this true? Appreciate any advice. Thanks

We gave up on trying to remove those stains years and years ago. Scrub too hard, use the wrong cleaner, and the roof membrane may be damaged.

That stain is probably iron oxides...I also have a huge one, but haven't even bothered to read the label on Super Iron Out to see if it will be safe on the Edpm material. John

As cautioned be carefull. If your attempts to remove the stain damage the EPDM membrane you will have bigger problems.
I think we all end up with stains on the roof. It's just a life history of the trailer. Wash it to keep clean but leave the stains if they will not come off easily.

I've always worried that airline passengers will look down on my fiver roof and think I'm really trailer trash. There's nothing worse than brown stains running away fom the A/C off the radius of the roof onto the aluminum extrusion. If Dawn won't take it off, ProtectAll or Camco Rubber Roof cleaner usually does. I've used both on the A/C stain with a bristle brush like you would use to clean your tires or floor mats. On any of my 3 Montanas, I've not had any rubber roof failure due to a bit of scrubbing. Aerospace 303 after a good scrubbing helps lessen dirt and stain buildup for the next go round.

I don't know what they use, but the only time those stains left my roof is when it was washed in Goshen at the Fall Rally. It was like new again!

Let's hope they didn't use something that will have your roof melting off by next year!

I would hope that Rally co-ordinators wouldn't book someone to wash our rigs that would harm them.
It's been over a year since the ten year Rally, no dripping yet!

If people are looking down on me from an airplane, I'd rather have brown stains coming from my air conditioner instead of my bathroom vent. lol

Those stains are one of the things that I wish we could do something about when I get the rest of the roof nice, clean and white, but some things are just better left alone.
