I GUESS IT WAS BOUND TO HAPPEN
Well we just returned from a 2000 mile, 3 week trip to Central California and back. What a great time we had until the last stop. When I stopped to re-fuel, about 20 miles from the house, I noticed that the tread had begun to de-laminate on one of our "Chinese Marathons". I was able to make it home without incident and get the rig parked. The tire is still holding pressure, but they will all be replaced within the week with "Maxxis" tires.
I have always paid close attention to the air pressure, trailer weight, inspect the tires every stop and have never exceeded 65 MPH while towing. The tires have a total of 15,504 miles on them. I thought I would be able to get more out of them but I guess not. So, even though it has been discussed here often, keep an eye on the tires that have come on the rig from the factory.

Just my Opinion but 15K miles out of OEM tires is more than I did on my Missions. We replaced then at @ 10K and would have done so on any OEM low bid tire.

Rich,
I did get more out of the Marathons than what I got out of our Missions on our previous Mountaineer. Those only lasted about 11K before the first failure.

We had the Missions on ours and got well over 20k on them with no problems until a bent axle and tire wear forced me to replace them. I guess we were just one of the lucky ones.

We just completed over a 10,000 mile trip to the east coast and back with no problems with our Chinese Marathon tires. I did discover I had excessive wear on the front left tire on the outside edge. The trailer is back at the dealer for that and several other problems that popped up on our 6 month old trailer.

I ditto MuddyPaws; our China Good Years came off immediately on our new rig and were replaced with LT tires Made in USA. The standards on ST tires are not there for a heavy rig like the Montana. Tire separation is very common with any age of ST tire!!

Yes, but how much longer do we have until tires are no longer made in America? You have not been able to buy a US made TV for decades and I am not sure there are any US made appliances any more.

Maybe Chinese tires made in the USA? I saw this morning that China is building a plant near Corpus Christi to manufacture steel pipe. Tires next maybe?

My Chinese time bombs came off our rig with only 1500 miles on them and were replaced with Michelin's. I can't even give the Marathons away. I guess I will have to pay the junk fee to get rid of them. Comparing televisions or appliances with tires is really not the same. I am not riding on my television or stove, so I really don't care if it is built here or China.

Restez, don't give up hope getting rid of those Marathons. I swapped mine out at about the same mileage through the local Goodyear Dealer, put on G614s, but the dealer put the Marathons on the shelf and in a few weeks I received a check from them for $300, they sold all 5 tires, better than paying to get rid of them.

Good Idea there, however I don't know if I would be able to sleep at night knowing someone bought those tires and there lives and property are relying on those tires. Keystone should be ashamed to even put them on any trailer IMO. I wouldn't put them on anything but a utility trailer that maybe hauls a little junk or garbage to the dump and then I would be tempted to just leave them at the dump. It's a shame that here you have to pay 7 bucks a tire to throw them away when I already paid dearly for them on the Monty. Oh well it's only money
