A MOC first?

Yesterday I pulled my Montana across the newly opened Hoover Dam Bridge. Does that make me the first MOCer to have done so?

About the bridge crossing. The bridge maybe 1000 feet high but, all "high profile" vehicles are required to stay in the left lane, they have very tall concrete walls down the middle of the bridge and along each side of the bridge. You can't see a thing. You can't see the dam or the lake or over the sides at all. You get no idea of how high you are.

There is a side walk on the dam side of the bridge beyond the wall but, we were in the left lane and could not have gotten to the turn off even if we wanted to. We couldn't see the parking area to know if there was any RV Parking or not at the overlook.

Is the dam still accessible for tourists?

Yes, you still access the dam parking area using the old road.

Thanks for the report Grant. We are going to be there in the next couple of weeks. This was a subject of interest for us.

Sue would love the new bridge, we were talking about the bridge, she said she didn't want to cross it. Did not want to look down at the river.
Thanks for the report on it, and you just may be the first!

Grant, We pulled over the old Hoover Dam while they were working on the new one. Those suspension mounts and cables are fantastic........

Hi, we went across Monday and it was just as BirdingRVer said, and our GPS (Garmin 465T) kept warning us there was an impassible barrier ahead for trucks....whatever that meant, it wasn't true as we saw truckers and RV's ahead of us, and coming towards us, and no workers frantically waving us down. I will be updating the maps this week.
We are in Gold Canyon AZ and this is the first time we are spending the whole winter in one place.....I hope!

About 35 miles east of Phoenix on hwy 60. We always stayed at Canyon Vistas RV Resort when our son lived in Gold Canyon.

Grant, far as I know you're the first. We towed across Hoover Dam recently but the bridge was a couple of weeks from being opened. Vicki says we crossed the dam on October 2nd and the bridge was to open on October 15th or 17th. I'm glad after your report that we were able to cross the dam, although we've crossed it a few times before. It would be cool to experience the new bridge, though.

Well, if Peter and Terry went across Monday, then they beat BirdingRVer by one day.....

Oops, that's the problem with not logging on here for a few weeks. I tend to skim posts too quickly. And missed their post. Sorry. Grant, you're not the first.
