Got our rig back - we have concerns!

Had accident in TX in May and separated back cap from side. Temp repair done down there. Brought back to dealer in NJ for repairs. They examined it May 24. Finally completed repairs one week ago tomorrow. (We were told it would take 2-3 for parts to arrive and 1-2 weeks for repairs, but process took over 3 months.) We did live it in until the parts came in.

We noticed when we got it home, the steps were different. As original damage was to back wall, no where near the steps we question why they put new steps on. We called today and questioned.

They claim the mechanic put new steps on wrong rig. Should have been on one next to us. Okay, so why were we not told? They kept assuring us we were not being charged for new steps. What???? That is supposed to make us feel better - they are not charging us for their mistake????? Meantime the screen door snaps when shut - it is like the bottom hinge catches.

And the front landing gear is not operating properly. Keeps shutting off. We push button many times and it operates only a few seconds and shuts off again. What we want to know - is this a sign of the motor going bad or could we have more problems.

Somewhat concerned they hit or dropped the rig causing step and door problem and possibly landing gear, although we see no physical damage.

Thoughts?

We had some friends who did something similar. Cost was over $4K.

Other than taking a long time I hope they fixed all or at least most of whatever was broken.

Make sure they don't charge you for the steps but otherwise why gripe about it? Now if the new steps are worse than the new ones you have a legit reason to complain. They probably did not tell you about the steps because they thought you would KNOW because that is what you had the rig in for. Of course that is not what you were in for.

That sort of thing would make me a bit nervous because it brings into question whether or not they know what they are doing! If they broke the screen door or it is still under warranty then get it back in to them to fix. If out of warranty then fix it yourself. It is probably just a minor adjustment.

It sounds like it is most likely the switch itself. Maybe a loose wire or bad switch. If you're using a remote then maybe something wrong with remote. It could very well be that they did drop the unit. If you've ever seen how they move the units around it would make you very nervous. But barring some obvious sign of it being dropped you pretty much have to take the word of the dealer. Of course it could be that the motor is going bad but that would be the last thing I'd suspect.

Can you tell if the legs are binding? That could be a sign of damage done from dropping.

Good luck and keep us updated.

Maybe weak batteries from setting so long?

One other possibility with the landing gear. If you have circuit breaker instead of a fuse, the breaker may be popping and resetting. Breakers can go bad and do this. You can pick up a replacement at any auto parts store. One easy/cheap way to test it is to remove the breaker and put a fuse with the same rating in it's place. If the fuse blows, or if the gear still stops and starts, you have other problems.

With regard to the landing gear motor. Our landing gear motor did the same thing when the unit was brand new. Our delivery service centre said the motor must have had a "flat spot" in it. they replaced it with a new one and it has worked fine ever since. That is a possibility?
