Free Camping

For those who don't know there is a great web sight for "free" camping.
www.freecampgrounds.com

This site has been very helpful to me. One of the best places to stay for free overnight on the way to Quartzsite, Airzona. is the rest stop just North of Boron, Ca., (going either way.) It is well lite and fills up quick, so get there before dark. Do not park were the trucks go. Bare right and go where the autos go and there is a dirt area all along the rear.

sorry, I gave out a wrong web sight. It is freecampgrounds.com. Most are commerical stops. But are good for a one night stay when you are on the road

grooving grandpa,

I guess I don't understand how to use the link you provided. All I could find was commercial stuff. And much of it not even camping and or RVing in nature.

Rest stops can be very problematic. In addition to the noise factor there is a security issue. But in an emergency it is a good place to rest for a while. For your info there is a full hookup park in Boron. It is advertised as being very reasonable but we've never stayed there simply because it never fits into our schedule. But I'd definitely check it out if it fit into our routine.

On Edit:

Thanks for the correct link.

Sorry, I looked for 15 minutes and didn't find anything free. I must be looking in the wrong place.

Be very careful about the price. $10 or less could me that you are definitely boondocking. $8 will get you a shower and the rest is on you. Full hook up can be $16 or more at many of the "free" sites that are advertised. For just an overnighter, it's not a bad deal but check the details of each site and read the small print to see if the $10 or less includes Water, electric, and Sewer. Many of the common campgrounds that we all stay at will let you stay boondocking for $10 a night or less. Not all, but many.
