Montana 5W decals "curling up"...

Our Montana 5W's decals are curling up and deteriorating...does anyone know where I can get replacements, and approximately what they will cost? Is this a common problem with Montana's? I ask because I have seen quite a few with this problem in this past year...

On my last TT, I got a set from the manufacturer. Since the trailer was fairly new, I talked the lady into sending them free, after all, we are advertising their product.

Thanks for the reply. I got a quote from a local RV dealer here of $35 per decal, and there are a total of 16 on the unit, PLUS the removal and installation costs! Too much $$$...This is a 2005 Montana 5w, with nearly 5 years still remaining on the warranty, but it seems the decals are not covered by warranty. I am thinking the previous owner had the coach pressure cleaned, and that may be the problem...but, as yet, can't find where I can get the decals to try to install myself. But again, thanks.

Nell,

I know that they can be ordered by a Montana RV dealer as ours had damage before we bought it. They had to replace three decals before we signed on the dotted line. They did advise us that we not try to install them ourselves. Apparently, they aren't the easiest to install.

Nell,
It's not the pressure washing, the Montana decals just do that after 2 or 3 yrs. It can be quite exasperating having that happen. You do all you can to keep your Montana looking nice and then the decals curl and curl and curl and you are left with a crummy looking Rv. Seems to me this isn't very good advertising for Montana

Mine have curled to the point I cut the curled area off and guess what? They curled again. Pretty soon I will just take them off as that would look better than what I have now.

Our rig is a little over three years old - the decal on the front was peeling so bad it was getting ugly. A hair dryer and a bit of time took care of it, it looks much cleaner now and I doubt it will be going back on. The next one on it's way is also on the front and it says Mountaineer...might look a little funny without that one...

The decal problem seems to be a recurring one.
Question: Is it possible to order a Montana without the decals? Does anyone know for sure?
Thanks.

Once I was out of warranty by two months I contacted Montana myself. they sent me the decals after I emailed them pictures of mine peeling. i did the work myself on the nose, only installed portion of the decals though not whole thing. We ended up trading ours and it was a 2005 model as well. As I understand it they changed vendors late 2004 on the decals and have went back to previous vendor since all the issues.

I want to point out that this IS NOT just a Montana problem. It is a RV industry problem. I have seen Cedar Creeks, Cardinals and Hitch Hikers with the same exact peeling. The decals start to peel after about 4 to 5 years. Usually it starts on the front cap but the side graphics are not immune.
They did change suppliers a couple years ago and only time will tell if they are any better.
And Yes, my graphics on my 04 2955RL also started peeling.

Yep, we have an 05 2955 and the decals sure enough are curling up and they look awful. I've always used Turtle Wax wash and Protecto. I can't figure out what's causing it. Not all the decals are doing it; just the "driver's" side! What's a good number to call to complain to Keystone? Thanks.

No doubt the same vendor is providing the decals for several manufacturers. Our 3400 is 14 months old and no sign of peeling decals. Since these decals are on a Keystone product it IS a Keystone problem. Keystone knows it is occuring and had done little or nothing to correct the problem and that is another problem. We should all be clicking on the "send us your ideas" tab on the Montana website with each and every problem we have on our units. If we do nothing..nothing will happen..

I am curious about those with peeling problems. Are you fulltimers? If not, do you store your rig under cover or out in the open?

I pointed out our peeling decals to Mark Krol at the northeast rally. He mentioned a supplier problem with the 2004-2005 models and had me call customer service. They wouldn't pay for the replacement, but did send me a free set of decals. I'm going to have a local shop replace them in the spring.

Our 05 2955 is curling as well and I've contacted Customer Service and they've offered to send new decals, which is great, but I believe, and told them so, they should share the costs of installation. They haven't spoken to that yet but maybe if we all spoke up, we could get something done. The 05 units are to new for this to be happening, this is something that maybe would be happening to a 10 year old unit. A good number to call would be 866 425 4369 or email Montana/Keystone customer service.
