Fireplace

Could someone tell me the dimensions of a fireplace. I would like to know what size opening I need. We are thinking about installing one below our roll out computer tray in our 2955. Has anyone done this? Thanks for any help you can send my way.

This is from our Dimplex Fireplace manual:
26" wide, 22 1/2" high and 12" deep. They suggest 1/4" clearance around the insert. Venting NOT required.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for th info DONnANNIE. That does help. Now I just have to go see how much space I have. Do you have a model number for your unit? I see Lowes is a dealer for Dimplex

hookman, what did you use for power? Did you put in a new circuit?

We have the Dimplex Optiflame Model BF5000, identified on the Dimplex.com website as a 26" Plug-in Fireplace.

Dimplex, a company out of Ontario Canada can be contact as well at 888-346-7539. I am not sure what the original cost was for this unit.

I couldn't find a model number on the manual. I did find a website: http://www.optiflame.com/

I would recommend that you add a new circuit.

Bob,
We are in Yuma also for the winter.
We are looking at taking out our fireplace to make more storage room.
Make you a good deal on the fireplace and front wood work.

Installed a Fireplace

I installed an electric fireplace in my 2955RL 2003 Montana.

After a lot of measuring and looking for the right size,
I purchased a Dimplex Model DF12309 includes remote on/off,
1440 watt heater/4800BTU for under $300
www.electricfireplaces.com

We just love the looks of the fireplace and the flame looks so real!

To view slides of fireplace - go to picturetrail below.

To answer the question about heat protection.
The heat comes from the front top of the unit.
Only the top front 1" ridge get hot to touch. No heat anywhere else.
There is 8-10" of air space from top of fireplace to above shelf
and the top board you see does not touch the top of the fireplace.

The fireplace can be taken out without touching anything.
We plan to use the fireplace year around - 5th & home.

I (sunseeker) posted Oct 28, 2005 the following:
Moved Fireplace into home

In the spring of 2005 I installed an electric fireplace in our 5th wheel.
I have now moved the fireplace insert into our Az home.
I made a cabinet to fit the fireplace insert and a shelf for the VCR and satelite receiver. The TV sets on the top.
We can now enjoy our fireplace year-round.
Photos are on the link below.

Measure from the outside lip of the cupboard to get the depth. The Dimplex was to deep on my 2955 and the Burly had lots of room to fit in. The one out of the 3400 was to deep.

Dave, thanks for that information. That might be a way for me to go. I assume you have enough clearance for the slide. That company is up here in Portlan so maybe I can go look at them.

Don, your're probably right about that Dimplex being too deep. When I looked behind the water heater there appears to be an aluminum frame right behind the false walls so I wouldn't be able to take the wall out and go back any further.

Thank you all for your replies,
Bob

That is the same address that I sent you and where ours came from. The Burley Oakham Contempary. It fits and works very well.

We have a 2955RL 2006 - We have been searching for just the right sized unit and also one that did not get hot on the outside of the unit, to put in the Monty. We have finally found it. We removed the doors under the computer desk, cut off the bottom board and in the space put a small black fireplace stove we purchased at Menards. Hubby, bolted the back legs to the floor, cut a hole through the bottom of the computer desk, notched a hole out of the sliding part and ran the cord up to a surge protector we installed on the wall of the computer desk. It fits perfectly, looks great, and throws alot of heat.

We purchased the stove at Menards and they also have them this year for 89.99
