Hydraulic Slide Out Power Unit Leak

Opened my front compartment yesterday to transmission fluid everywhere. After cleaning up much of the mess, I had my wife actuate the slides while I watched where the leak was coming from. It wasn’t a hose, it’s coming from the seam between what I think is the pump and part of the valve assembly.

I took a couple of pictures, one with my wife pointing to where the fluid is leaking from. There are three bolts on top of the valve assembly, and when I tightened them the leaking was reduced, but still there. My temptation is to remove the three bolts and I assume I’ll find a broken gasket between the two parts? Having never done this, I decided I should run it past you guys first. (I have visions of removing the three bolts and having springs and ball valves flying everywhere – LOL)

Anyway, I would value your advice, again! It’s always been spot on in the past.

Looks like one of the o-ring seals has failed on the upper block. Should be an easy fix I would think. Napa should have new o-ring for this.

I am with Drifty1, there are likely O rings between the pump body and distribution block. Gaskets are seldom used in Hydraulic applications. Lots of pressure there so if the bolts were loose the sure could be a damaged O ring.

I doubt there is a gasket, most likely o rings, once you get it loose, look and see, there should be one for each hose, then remove a good one, make a trip to a auto parts store, that should not be a major fix.

Hey Scott, I think that is an easy fix. What has come loose there is the gasket or "O" ring has dislodged itself. Remove those 3 bolts and simply lift that valve or, port assembly off the base of the pump. If you have a company or business in your area that specializes in hydraulic component repair, they will most likely be able to replace that gasket for a few dollars. That pump assembly is the early version which is Haldex and I'd bet that you can replace that gasket fairly easily. When you install the new gasket and set the valve assembly back in place, make sure the 3 bolts are torqued evenly. In-other-words, tighten then all equally.
