I think thats how the system works Dieselguy - Scare us to death with the $3-$4 a gallon, and we are cozy clams at $2.50, even though a few months ago we were paying under $2 and complaining.

That's right bsmeaton. The gas companies are conditioning us like lab rats. Steve and I paid 3.50 gallon for diesel in Idaho earlier in August. Later in the week when we got to Califorinia, we paid 3.05, the cheapest we had seen on our trip. We were jumping up and down; thrilled to pay 3.05/GALLON FOR FUEL. It's terrible! And the Gas Companies made 78 million in profits last year, and the CEO of Exxon received a 10 million dollar BONUS!

That is why the oil companies love metric measure. 10 cents a litre increase does not sound as bad as a 38 cent a gal jump, but they are the same thing. The oil boom in northern Alberta has caused such a shortage of B pressure welders, they are now making 1000 bucks a day on some jobs. I am a Millwright ( Industrial Mechanic ) and our rates are going up too but not like the Welders.

KC area on 9/10, unleaded is 2.329 and diesel is 2.659. Indications are that may have dropped today but I haven't checked it out.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!
