Cleaning the screens on the vents
Does anyone have any good tricks for cleaning the screens that cover the opening for the vents and the Fantastic Fan? Vacuuming doesn't seem to be very effective but may be the obvious answer.

I have a couple of packages of "tack cloth" to use on the regular screens. Of course you'd have to get to the outside of them - I suppose that's what you are talking about. I've blown them off from the inside with a leaf blower (hairdryer doesn't do much). We have the maxx-aire fan in the bedroom, so the "stuff is just trapped up there. The only real way I know of is to just remove them and clean them good and re-install. This model has 2 long screws - one at each end.

with the fan running...i've used a soft bristle brush (an old toothbrush works well) to dislodge the stuff that's been sucked up against the inside of the screen.

Last year when we bought the Montana, it came with a free cache of those orange beetles that look like lady bugs. The little pests congregated in the vents and I had to simply remove the decorative trim and then the screen itself by unsrewing two screws on each. Now that we have the Maxx Air vents on all of the vents, I suppose this is the only way to do the job.

Sue,
I think your idea is great. After reading it I just sat here and thought, "why didnt I think of that?" I made note of that in my list of things to do to the coach this spring. Thanks again...

On both of my fantastic fans I bought a screen that pops in and out.Camping World has it but I got it cheaper at J C Witney. You pop it off and run it under water to clean.I was surprized how dirty these screens can get.

Removed and washed. Only 8 screws on each screen on ours...easy enough to do. Also allows access to the fan itself. The front edge of the blades get "gunked up". Paper towel with Windex on it does a fine job. Don't use anything which leaves any sort of residue or the blades will get dirty real fast again.

Thanks for all your hints, everybody. Now if some of you experienced people will just come over and give us an extended demonstration......
