Washers and Dryers
Are the washers and dryers worth the expense if you are going full-time. I do not like to use commercial laundries, expensive and never get the clothes clean. I was in Camper World the other day and units look mighty small.

They are absolutely worth the expense. They do require you to do smaller loads, but you get used to it. We have been living in our Montana for 8 months and I have it down to a science. Just do a load every day or two. I will confess to going to my son's to wash the sheets, because I would have to dry one at a time, but that is exactly what I will do, once we hit the road. Ours is the combination unit. If you get the separate washer and dryer, the dryer is a little larger. What ever you do - DO NOT GET THE UNVENTED UNIT!!! We had one and hated it. It made the Monty too hot and took FOREVER to dry. Swapped it out for a vented unit and no problems. It does take a couple of hours to wash and dry one load. Just depends on what you are washing.
Edit: We have since traded units and have the stackable units. Made a big difference in the dry time. Completely satisfied.

We are not full timers, but DW loves the vented combo washer/dryer. Combo is all we have room for. Yes, loads are small. But she will put in a load, set it to wash and dry, and we may leave to do whatever for a couple hours, and come back to a clean.dry load. And may repeat if necessary. At least to us it is better than sitting in a laundramat. Or finding the only machine or two in the park in use.

we have had one for 7 years, You have got to get used to it. We still do large loads in the campground laundry room. We might run a load every day all you have to do is push a couple of buttons.

We also have the Splendide Combo and I (Dick) love it. The only problem is that like you I thought it was small and probably weak and so the first load I dried I turned Joyce's socks into doll socks. They are powerful enough and do a great job, but I for sure get a vented one.

You state: I do not like to use commercial laundries, expensive and never get the clothes clean.
I state, tongue in cheek, all in fun: You have answered your own question.
Once you adjust to, "I am NOT in vacation mode", "I have no schedule", "I don't have to have the laundry done in 30 minutes", "one load a day is perfectly fine", you will LOVE your new machine.
I will never profess that the price of my machine will ever be recooped, but, do NOT think you are gonna get that machine away from me! Step away from the machine.

We had a Splendide single vented unit in our first Montana and it worked good. It was small loads as others said but we just did a load or so every other day to keep up. With our present Montana we had room for side-by-side Splendide units. They are larger and work great. If you price public laundry facilities I think you will recovered most of your purchase price eventually, those machines and dryers have gotten very expensive.

Well worth it! Lack of W/D hookups is one of the main reasons our old 5er wasn't used as our full time unit. We would probably be back in a stick and brick if we had to run to the public laundry or be broke from fluff and folds. We have the stack units which didn't require us to change the way we do laundry. Basket full, do a few loads over an evening and go back to life.

We are not full timers and we ARE in vacation mode when we're out. We have the separate Splendide washer and dryer, one above the other. My family laughs at me because I LOVE doing laundry in them! For ten years I had used the icky campground laundry facilities or saved the laundry till I got home. Now I can put a load on and, yes they're smaller loads than my S&B high efficiency front-loaders, but it's all so manageable. I know the wash will be clean when it comes out and it really takes no time at all to fold & put away. If you have the room, I highly recommend the separate units!

We have the separate side-by-side units in our 5'er and just love them. We would never be without them again. Sure is nice doing your laundry in your own nice clean machines!

Not full timers and still use the Splendide side by sides, vented. Convenience is priceless, plus they do a great job.

I have the Splendid washer and vented dryer and would not be without them on the road. Worth every penny in my opinion.

Had the Splendid combo in other unit and liked it. When we bought this unit we had the Whirlpool separate washer and dryer (over under) installed and like them even better as they do bigger loads. Wife says she would not be without them now.

Recently I read on a different forum where the poster said his D/W would get rid of him before she'd get rid of her Splendide.

We did a cost vs laundry back 10 years ago. We were fulltimming then and figured it was a 32 month pay back. SOB and 2 piece Sears. We used that rig for almost 7 years.
Now, 2 rigs later, the Splendede cost $1,100 dollars installed at time of delivery in our 2014 3150RL. The convenience of being able to do our laundry while we watch TV, out running around, knowing what was washed in it last, there is NO WAY we are going to have a rig with out a washer/dryer.
We now spend about 8 months in the RV, and use it almost daily.

We had the Sears Kenmore stacked model for 8 years in our Montana 3400RL and it worked good. Only 1 issue in 8 years and that was repaired under warranty in the first year. We have the Pinnacle front loading stacked unit in new trailer and it is still up for debate as to which the wife likes best. You have to get accustomed to smaller loads but it still beats the weekly trip to a laundrymat IMO.

We have been full time for eight years, seven without a washer.
Had a Splendid 7100xc (nonvented combo) installed last summer should have done it sooner.
Works great for us.
