Three weeks and counting

We are three weeks into our ordeal. The surgery on Dianna's ankle and lower leg looks like an erector set gizmo. I saw the xrays. Stitches will remain at least until next Friday. She still has 6 more weeks of non-loadbearing in a leg cast. If all goes well, she will get a boot and the work begins for her.

The severe sprain on the other ankle is beginning to show signs of healing. So we are encouraged about improving mobility.

I have surprised her in the kitchen. She thought I wasn't paying attention. She has had Mexican Cassarole, Mesquite roasted chicken, bacon and eggs with fresh fruit salad or toast and loganberry preserves, gyros and cucumber sauce on pita bread with greek salad, beef and chicken fajitas with all the trimmings, baked sweet potato, hot grilled ham and swiss or grilled chicken and cheese sandwiches. I can now see the down side. She is going to want me to keep this up after she is back on her feet.

Dianna has made wonderful adjustments. She can now transfer herself from bed to wheel chair. In the beginning, I was doing everything, but now she has much more independence.

I guess you might say we are just waiting and counting the days.

Great news indeed Stiles but take it a little easy in the kitchen won't you? You may be setting a new standard for the rest of us to live up to, so I was glad Maureen wasn't watching over my shoulder when I read your post!!!

Stiles, you are going to have to share those recipes. They all sound really good. Maybe we should have a section for a mans recipe section.

Stiles, Good new to here about Dianna.

Now, lets keep this between us men, share the recipes. When she is back on her feet, you need to start burning the grilled sanwiches, that should help move you back out of the kitchen (only kidding).

Sounds like you both are handeling this setback well. Best Wishes.

So glad to hear things are working out. That good food you're cooking must be doing the trick. You're in our thoughts and prayers and hope progress is swift.

Stiles,

It is so wonderful seeing a post about a loving husband taking care of his bride. We haven't met, but I can feel the the love and friendship and bond that you have with Dianna in your posts. I know it is tough going through the recovery, but you have each other as best friends to get to the finish line. You have my prayers that all things go well for both of you during the healing process. May God Bless you both and give you the strength to deal with the burnt food before Dianna is back on her feet. Just kidding....prayers are with a speedy recovery for your other half.

Stiles,

We're happy tohear that Diana is recovering well and that you have discovered your new found kitchen talents. I'm disabled and Debbie works, so I help out in the kitchen a bit. When we can sell this house and get her retired, maybe I can return the kitchen to her. LOL Anyway, glad you are adjusting to the trials life throws at you.

Great news! We will wish for continued improvement. You remind me of my Dad. He could never cook anything except scrambled eggs when I was growing up. Then my Mother had several surgeries (including two hip replacements) and he became quite the chef and loved it.
Happy trails......................
