Strange Tire Wear...

Good morning all...

I have a 2007 Montana 3400RL. When I bought it 4 years ago, I put on a set of Maxxis tires. I noticed that I now have a strange wear pattern only on the tires on the front axle. The Right Front Axle tire is wearing fairly heavy on the outside edge. The Left Front Axle tire is wearing some (not as severe) on the inside edge.

Is this an axle alignment issue? Could this be a bushing issue?

My money is on alignment issues. Just had mine aligned due to tire wear.

My first guess would be alignment.

I'll vote with the rest. I'd take it to a shop and have the alignment looked at first.

Yes the axle is out of alignment. The cause of that mis-alignment is yet to be discovered. Take it to a reputable shop that aligns over the road trucks.

Certainly sounds like the axle. However, I had the same issue on my 3400RL and it was an elcheapo Chinese tire.

Sounds like an alignment issue to me as well

I also would say alignment. Might check the spacing between the axel centers on both sides.. Just to give you an idea if it wis ay off.

You might want to measure the distance between the tires on the right and left sides, they should be the same distance. If the ubolts get lose an axle can shift anywhere from a fraction of an inch to several inches. When the several inch shift happens then you end up with serious tire damage.
