Added MorRyde steps today - Montana Owners Club

I've wanted these since I found out they were available for all campers. So today, I installed a set and love them. Even though these do not have the strut to help raise them, it's still easier than pulling out the folding ones. Great investment. Measure between the two flanges of the door. Mine was 28 1/4" and I have the 32" steps. Not sure how they figure it, but mine are 4 step system. They are rock solid.

Keep me posted on how you like them. The factory steps on our HC 381TH are terrible and I am looking at those moyride.....

The Morryde steps are the best thing ever for your RV. They are rock solid.

I installed the revolution glow steps. What an improvement. Multiple height adjustment for top & bottom steps. Have not run into a situation yet where the steps could not be adjusted to any kind of un even ground. And they are not in your face when you open your camper door.

Just another option to consider if you are looking to upgrade you steps.

Yes!!! They came factory on our 2017 and couldn't be more pleased with them.
Not familiar with the addition of the strut.

Yes, the factory steps stay in place. Many have taken them out, but it leaves an odd looking hole there. A few have added storage boxes there.

The new ones with the struts will not fall if you let them go when letting them go or picking them up. Say you get about head height with them and drop them, they stay put. The strut holds them in place. They are pretty neat.

We also put those steps on our 2018 HC. Ours are 32 inches wide. To answer the question about the original steps, they can be rremoved. MorRyde just started making a tool box to replace the steps. My wife bought me one for Christmas. I think it was one of the first ones they produced. If fits perfect and looks great. If someone can tell me how to attach a picture I will attach one for your review. Costs about $160 depending on where you buy it. I forgot to mention this steps are as solid as walking up steps in your house

I like the idea of the storage box. Not sure how much weight it can hold based upon the hardware size but it's a great use of the space.

you figure the same hardware holds the toolbox that held the step. That has to be good for the weight of the step and who is standing on it. I don't think you could overload it. The carriage bolts would have to be able to handle at least 400 pounds figuring the weight of the step and being able to handle a person of pretty much any size

After my wife almost did a face plant last summer with the OEM 'springboard' steps installed the Lippert SolidStep version (https://www.lci1.com/solid-step). Best mod after disc brakes done to this 5er. The Lippert's to me seemed to offer just a bit more then the MORrydes for our needs. I also considered the TorkLift Glow Step but at an added 200 plus bucks didn't see the advantage over the Lippert or MORrydes except in tight spots which haven't happened yet after several thousand miles.

I am happy to see that MORryde has started advertising that tool box. I'll probably add that to my ever expanding list of 'needs'

I'm also curious how well they work. We also have the 381th and the wife has already sprained a knee on the OEM steps.

Lippert or MORryde - are about as solid as a S&B set of stairs. Their only drawbacks are tight quarters opening, being unable to put items on the floor with the steps retracted. Others, most of whom don't own a set of these, claim that they will dump dirt and water on the floor when retracting but we haven't had that alleged problem since we sweep and/or wipe them down first.

As a note, I did some reinforcing on the door frame and added a piece of thin neoprene rubber to reduced latched closed slop and rattles. It's even more solid now in the closed position.

Those factory steps on the 381TH are an issue for sure!

Congrats on your rig. Just out of curiosity, what do you carry in the garage?

For us it is Kayaks and a motorcycle or a jet ski.

.... and something I forgot to mention and the main reason we went with the Lippert version. It's the fact that the top step at the door is 1-1/2 treads wide vs the single wide MORryde. It's almost like a landing at the top. Tough to miss your footing there

With that said, both are great products and a real enhancement to in and out of your 5er
