Charging Batteries over winter
Installed 2 deep cycle 6v Trojan 145s this year.
Pull em out and use battery tender? Leave in rig over the winter?
I have a 12 battery tender...assuming I could use that with batteries in series, correct?
Am a little concerned about off gassing with using the battery tender indoors. Assuming using battery tender in cold garage not a good idea but again have the off gassing issue.
Would appreciate any feedback.... Thanks!!

A couple of answers for you. As long as the batteries are in good condition and fully charged, just disconnect a negative cable and leave in rig.
If you are not comfortable with that, take them to your cold garage and use a battery tender. A tender does not work the same way as a regular battery charger. First, if only puts out between 1 to 2 amps. Second, it is designed to maintain battery voltage. Therefore it will only charge as needed. Your batteries will not cook so no worries about outgassing.
Either way works fine. The choice is totally yours.

If you can get power to the rig, the best choice is just leave them in place and let the converter charger to take care of them. Baring that, as stated, fully charged batteries don't freeze.

I disconnect my battery in the camper and put my 145 trogans on a smart trickle charger. The inverter would probably do just as good.

I asked in another battery related thread,I am under the impression these newer Montanas come with a battery wizard. Why use a battery tender? The Wizard is superior to a tender anyway. am I missing something? My 2016 Wizard charges my 4 Trojan 6v batteries no trouble.
