Good Sam Emergency Road Service

Opinions and experience with Good Sam Emergency Road Service.
Is there something better or is this the best? Thanks for your input.

Little Rhody,

There was a recent very good and lengthy discussion on this very subject. If you haven't tried the 'Search' feature you might give that a shot.

Good luck.

Little Rhody,

Just about all of the road services have a good reputation as far as I can tell from previous posts here on the forum.

Last week, my son who is very directionally challenged, had car trouble in Washington state, and could not tell me via cell phone, where he was located. We were in Arizona at the time, trying to help, the cell service for both was terrible.

We were able to use coordinates off the GPS system and relay those coordinates to the agent at the Good Sam Roadside Service, they found him, rescued him and the car. In fact, they took him the extra mile, home, after dropping the car off at the dealer. That is service!

I might also add that they allowed him as a college student to be covered on my service plan.

We have the Good Sam ERS and have used it once and they did exactly what they said they would and very quickly. Your location, when you need them, has a lot to do with how soon they will get to you. I think for the $ it is a worthwhile plan. Like any insurance plan, you never know when you are going to need it.....

Phil I agree we had Good Sams ERS and used it twice. Both times they were very professional and on time. But again it will depend on your location. We are using Coach Net because it was a gift for buying the 5er. Haven't used Coach Net so don't know how they would respond. If we don't use them we will go with Good Sams ERS at the end of the year. GBY...

We've had it for years, used it several times, and wouldn't be without it. Always great service.
Happy trails.....................

We, too, have had it for years and have used it several times. We have always been very pleased with the service. We have also used it for our non towing vehicles.

We tried to use it once after our trailer was burglarized and the thief slashed our tire. Since it was vandalism, Good Sam wouldn't come out and change the tire. Actually, that is not totally correct. They said they would be happy to call someone, but it would be at my expense. I sent emails to complain but received no response. My only experience with them.

I wouldn't leave home without it.
Had it for years and never used it until Sept 07. In that one month I used them 3 times. Twice for trailer flats and once for the truck. One of the best investments I ever made.

The one experience I've had with Good Sam ERS was a very good one. We had a blowout and we were back on the road in a little over an hour. Like someone said before I am sure the response you get is dependent on your location.

Not to take anything away from Good Sam's ERS, but if you are shopping, also consider Coach-Net ERS. It is recommended by Escapees and discounted to Escapees members. All the praise for Good Sam's service can be said about Coach-Net. I have had more experience with them than I ever wanted, but they have come through as promised and more. They do have some service features that are not offered on the Good Sam product.

Had AAA-Plus RV and needed it once; after that I cancelled that and went with Good-Sams ERS. AAA wouldn't tow my dually 1-ton even with the RV addition paid for; ERS (and Coach-net) both cover up to 1-ton dually, your trailer and other vehicles in the house. (of note, even if AAA had come out, they would not tow the 5er from its location on the road -- would have required us to leave it on the side of the road -- fellow Montana member from ABQ came out and towed the 5er into town for us -- thanks Cheatum if you are still monitoring!!). Regardless, on our SOB we did use Coach-Net (supplied for 1 year when the trailer was purchased) and they were super, have never had to use ERS as yet.

Being an Escapee, I intend to switch to Coach-Net ERS when our present CW ERS runs out.

Good Sam Road service?? I have nothing but praise for this service. I have had to use it 3X. On the first occasion we owned a Class C. Our alternator broke down just outside of Port Hawksbury, Cape Breton, NS. I made a call to their 800# for service. Evan though they had not know where I was located they were able to locate a tow truck to come and tow me to a service station which was at least 30 miles. There I was serviced and back on the road within 3 hours of my original call. The tow would have been at least $1000. but my cost was $0.00
This road service club is one hell of a club. I would not go on the road without it.

I had a situation similar to Ols1932. I had AAA and we broke down about 50 miles out of Redding, CA. We were in a mountain/lake CG. They towed the truck down to Redding. And they would have gotten the trailer but they wanted to put it on a trailer and haul it out. Which would have been fine except the roof of the trailer would have been damaged by low hanging branches of trees. So they looked around and found a guy that delivered trailers. He was delivering one up near where we were. So on his return trip he came by the CG and towed our rig into the auto dealership. They had a full hookup site for us right at the dealership. Now the guy was not paid by AAA but they did reimburse me for the cost.

They went out of their way to take care of us. We have been very happy with their service.

But I think with any of the major players in this field you probably can't go wrong.
