Slide-out battery tray for 3160RL
I have a 2015 3160RL and am going to switch to 6 volt battery's. I'm wondering if anyone has installed a slide-out battery tray in the battery compartment. I would like to run 4 of them but I haven't been able to find anyone who sells trays for this model or this configuration. Thought I would check with the forum, I can't believe that I am the only one who has done this. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

What will the sliding tray gain you? My 4/6v Trojan batteries are in composite boxes with lids sitting in the front compartment. I have installed a Trojan watering system that fills all 4 with the squeeze of the rubber bulb.

Missfit,
I installed 2 of these battery boxes which I bought online from Walmart. NOCO HM426 Dual 6V Battery Box. Unless you are using AGM batteries you will also need to install vent hoses. I just T'd two hoses to the single vent.

I'm putting in AGM's, so no need to water them like plant's, but my back would love not to need to bend over to put them in the spring & take them out in the fall.

You’ll like the 6v batteries, you didn’t mention the AGM part. 😉

If there is any way to get power, even just a little, to your rig in the winter there is no need to take the batteries out.

Would that I could, but alas it's not an option. I wish it were.

I have never seen a need to pull the batteries. They stay charged and in the rig year round.

It may be just as easy to construct shelving.

MorRyde makes several sizes of pull out trays you would have to mount it up high enough so it would be above the door opening.

I have two 12 volt AGM's wired in parallel in my rig. Bought a Battery Tender Solar Panel and had a frame made for it that easily bolts on to the pin box at the correct angle. Nut and bolt on one side, padlock on the other to prevent it walking off. Works for me and a lot easier than battery removal. I don't have power at my storage lot either.

If the batteries are AGM’s, why take them out in the winter? What’s to freeze ?

Lucky,
Unless you have a genny installed, you can easily install up to 8 6 volt batteries. With a genny, you will only be able to get 2 in unless you work some sort of stackable AGMs.
