Montana history and facts.
Does anyone know where we can get historical information on the Montana line, for example how many of which models were made each year, where various tanks, lines, ducts etc. are located? Is there anyone at Keystone who talks about stuff like this? If you have been on a factory tour do they give any handouts with this kind of info? We hear that Montana is one of the best selling brands but is that 100,1000,10000 a year? Is this a trade secret?
I would be interested knowing more about our Montana 3350RS model which was made only in 1999-2000 and is identical to a 3255RL except that the sofa is L-shaped and in the rear (hence RS) and the two chairs are on the slide next to the dining table and chairs.
In the MOC survey we are the only 3350RS.
Thanks.

All I can tell you is that Montana was the best seller in 2002 and 2003. Montana sold 4276 units in 2002 and as of Dec 2003, 4940 units. Cougar was second both years with 3457 and 3967 respectively. Four Winds was number 45 with 446 units in 2002 and 506 in 2003. Total retail sales for 2002 were 60,516 and for 2003, 68,008. I believe but I am not sure, that was just 5th wheels.

I'd be interested in knowing more of the Montana's history myself. Maybe someone at the factory (Marketing??) will put something together and post it electronically. If they wanted to be ambitious, they could do the entire Keystone line; but the Monty is the big draw.

I would suggest go to the Keystone web site and read thru their news releases. That will give you some idea of their history. Happyrving.....

Very informative...the news release says number 20,000 rolled out on March 26, 2004 but a previous post says "sales for 2003 were 68,000".
I guess we should only believe half of what we read!!!! I got a hunch sales for the whole RV industry were 68,000 in 2003.

Gruffy,
That's what I said. Total RV sales were 68,008 Montana sales were about 4,600. Total Montana sales since the brand was started have now gone over 20,000.

When was the first Montana model? 1999? Knowing would put the 20k production figure into more perspective. I think Keystone has been in existence since 1996 but the oldest Montana I've heard of is the 1999 model. Anybody know differently?

Our 3350RS has a build date of 1/99 so maybe we have the oldest Montana around.
