not a problem just different

Hey gang,

I found an interesting scenario with the web site.
It is not a problem nor an issue. Its just different with the right set of circumstances .

Begin by opening up a search. I opened in a new window.
I was logged in at the time.

Leave the "Search For:" line blank
(keep checked) "Match exact phrase"
Search Forum: "all forums" (important)
Subject only (do NOT check Archived Posts)
Search in the last year (it only seems to occur in this search)
It won't occur if you search 120 days or anything less than this.

In the "Search By Member" Type in a fake name anything like xxx or aaa

It will drop you out of the forum format and you will end up with a text listing by thread and dates.

I got a nice (emphasize nice/different) listing dated by author and threads including number of pages in that thread. Think of the bandwidth saved on a wireless connect! (if it was only up to date!)

My search resulted in
from
Apr 27 2005 2:52:38 PM
thru
Jun 04 2005 10:32:48 PM

Interestingly enough it wasn't up to date. Nor was it a full years search.

It may just be a fluke.

Can anyone else repeat/verify this? I tried with Internet Explorer, I then launched Mozilla and Firefox. Both behaved the same.

Its been a really slow day

[Just checked again. It is repeatable and it is up to date. Today's post is not at the end of the listing it occurs somewher in the middle. I just don't understand the layout/format of the page delivered].

I got the same type results.

Best I can tell is you and I left the Search for; blank and that is what the forum searched for "blank" or a space between the words. Click on any of the threads and you will see all the spaces in the topic hi lited. If you do a search for the letter "e" you will find all the "e"s high lited.

You will get the same results when you leave the Search By Member: blank also.

Interesting! Same results here.

Another thing interesting, originally we could leave the search for field blank and it would bring up all posts meeting the other criteria. Then the ability to search for blank went away. So I faked it by searching for 'e' like Glenn mentioned. I just tried after your post and find that once again we can search for space. That's good when I'm looking for a post I know a particular member posted but I'm not sure what words to search on.
