New 3400RL

I know I have talked about getting a new 3400RL awhile ago but with the weather around here being so bad we left it at the dealers.

While a week ago we went down to pick it up it was setting on top of a hill behind the office. The serviceman said he would bring it down to the flat area in the parking lot so I could hook up and make sure everything was OK so he took the high-lift they used to move their 5er around as they were coming down the hill and all the weight on the 5er was on the high-lift it pushed the high-lift sideways and my 5er hit a parked vehicle slamming into the cap and scratching the fiberglass on the front of my 5er putting a scratch about 3" wide and 10" long. They decide to replace the whole end cap instead of fixing the scratch at a cost of over $2000.00.

The day the new end cap came in they called me and wanted to know if I wanted to come down and check the 5er for any damage before they put the new cap on so I went down and checked everything out I got to watch them put the new cap on a seal it up.

Yesterday I got to take the 5er to our campground boy does it pull nice we had a HR 5er that was 34' long and didn't weight as much and it didn't pull as nice as this one. So far the only problem we have had is the landing gear when you push the button to go in it goes out and if you push the button to go out it will come in. Over all I love the 3400RL can wait for the weather to break so we can start camping

John & Peggy, Congrats on you new Montana. May you enjoy many happy miles in your new wheel estate. Glad the repairs were done for you by the dealer. Have the dealer check the wiring to the landing gear. Sounds like the wires are just reversed or the switch is mounted upside down. LOL

Congratulations on your new rig. Good report on the repairs. I know what you mean about the switch for the front legs. They seem to be backward to me also. When I push the switch up, I expect the Rig to go up. Not so, because up is "retract" and down is "extend"(written on the switches). I have to retrain myself every time.

It seems wrong to me also. I remember it by remembering that the switch is "bass ackwards"

Can anyone tell me where the lazy susan and the pull out trash can go in the newest floor plan layout for the 3400RL..Also, does it have a drain pipe in the middle of the storage area like the early models?
Finally, how high a box (in inches from the truck bed floor) can I put next to the tailgate and still hook up without problems.

Has anyone tried putting a tonneau cover on their truck bed to remain in place while the 5er is being towed?

Well my lazy susan is under the sink and is just a single one not two level. I do not have a pull out trash can and do not know where one would go. I also do not know if I have any "secret" places because I can't get to go over to the storage area at the moment - too busy. Diana

We had our lazy susan moved to the LR end of the island. That way the trash can can be placed in the end near the pantry and can be used from both sides. The tech guy that did our walk thru did it for us but I watched him and it wasn't hard. Need a drill and just unscrew plate underneath and relocate.
