Top burners won't light

When we initially picked up our trailer 2 of the 3 top burners lit easily and the 3rd was a bit more difficult. Now none of them will ignite using the spark knob. Has anyone had trouble with these before and are they easily adjustable? I haven't gotten a chance to start pulling this apart to check myself but have managed to burn all the hair off my fingers using a lighter to start the burners over the past couple weeks

Gvons, lift the lid, turn the spark knob, and see if you see a spark from the electrode next to the burner. If not, then the 'sparker' unit turned by the knob may be defective. It's less than ten bucks at your dealer.

We had spark at all three burners but the larger front burner would not light. I thought the electrode maybe wasn't close enough to the burner so tried to adjust it with needle nose pliers. I wouldn't recommend that. It doesn't adjust. And if you break the insulation like I did so that it now shorts the spark the wrong direction, then you have to either replace the entire burner or forever use a match to light that burner.

I know the cost of the sparker mechanism because our dealer ordered that part for us, thinking that's what I wanted. I've given up getting a new burner for awhile as we're leaving here Saturday and the dealer would have to order it. We'll just use a match. If I find that burner is very expensive then we'll just continue using a match.

We have a couple of the butane long handle lighters (normally used to light outside grills) which are available at WalMart, kitchen stores, and other retailers for just a few dollars. Think we got two in a pack for less than $10.00. Much better than matches and fit easily into the kitchen utensil drawer. Have been using the same ones for over a year and even use them to light outdoor campfires. Still have plenty of butane in them. I have never used the spark lighter that is on the stove. The long handle on these also make it much easier to light the oven.

Joyce, that's actually what we use. It was just easier (lazy?) to say 'match'. Thanks for the idea, though. It's a good one.
