GPS that works with Palm

I am interested in getting a GPS unit that works with the Palm OS.
So far I've seen that the MS Streets & Trips 2004 for windows and
the Pocket PC version of Microsoft MapPoint 2002 appear to be the
most widely used SW packages, neither of which would run on a palm.
Any suggestions for a GPS unit with Palm OS SW?

I don't know for sure if this will work in your application, but I have Mapsource "City Select North America v5" that came with the iQue 3600 PDA. The pda uses Palm software and everything works just fine. I am sure that you can purchase the city select cd from Garmin or one of their dealers. It is very similar to the Mapsource software that is used in the Garmin Street Pilot. I do not know if it is compatible with other Palm products. You definitely need expanable memory to download the maps and data into your palm unit.

Hope this info is helpful.

Another very widely used product is Street Atlas 2004 by DeLorme. I don't know if that version works with the Palm but they have other versions, too. You can check out their products at http://www.delorme.com
I don't know if any work with the Palm.

I ended up ordering Garmin's GPS 18 USB receiver for my Laptop
http://www.garmin.com/products/gps18/ and a copy of MS Streets &
Trips. Although Garmin's product comes with a software package called
City Select North America v5 its coverage for Canada and the
Canadian Maritimes appears very limited and thats where we're traveling
quite a bit. It also forced me to order a DC power adapter for my
Laptop but thats not such a bad thing to have since we use a cellular
data internet service. My wife can surf the internet for longer than the
charge of a battery while I get to drive..

Gvons, I don't know how expensive that dc adapter is for your laptop but for mine it's rather pricey. I ended up getting a 75w inverter for around $20 that plugs into the cigarette lighter. I then plug the laptop's 110v power cord into the inverter. Been using it for over two years without a problem. Just an alternative.

Thanks Steve, I shouldn't be so quick to jump. The DC Adapter was quite
pricey and is only good for the certain line of laptops so is no good
for anything else. On the upside it gets expensed to my job since they
get me to work while on vacation, on the downside an interter could have
been really useful.

At least you got to expense it. I have a dc adapter for my Sony (my main) laptop but then decided I didn't want to share my laptop with the truck so the truck got it's own (an HP). That's when I decided it makes sense to get the inverter. If the HP craps out I can then still use my Sony or Vicki's Toshiba with the GPS.
