NewTires,

While i was in Gettysburg last week I was talking to a Owner of a 2011 Monty who was coming up from Texas, on his way to Albany, with less then 120000 miles on the rv, and on his way up he had a double ( Marathon tires) blow out both tires on the passenger side went , he showed me pictures of the blown tires, And i tell you it was bad, so bad ( it ripped the whole fender well right off.) i just ordered 4 new GL14 tires from my local dealer. $333.00 each installed. Now my question is are my rims and valve stems rated for 110 psi and will I have a clearence problems with the fenders? Mine also is a 2011 3455SA .

My guess is you mean G614s and no you shouldn't have any problem, but you will need to get new valve stems installed. I think the past few model years have had rims rated for 110 PSI. An easy check is to slide under the Monty and look on the backside on the spokes, one should be stamped with the weight and PSI rating. We put them on our 2010 2955RL without a problem.

I put G614's on mine also - but one thing I learned the hard way. I picked up a stainless steel scissor blade in Oregon which punctured one of my G614's - not repairable. I had not changed out the spare - which was a brand new Goodyear Marathon which came with the trailer - but the Good Sam person who responded would NOT PUT ON MY SPARE BECAUSE IT WAS A DIFFERENT SIZE. So, ended up having to buy a new spare until I could get to Coos Bay where I could get a new G614.

Morale of the story - I wish I had put five G614's on while I was at it. Would have saved me $300! According to the tow guy who showed up, the factory Marathon was smaller than the G614, and in his opinion would have created an unsafe condition. Not sure of the validity of his argument - but kind of hard to argue alongside the road!

120000 miles is pretty good for ANY tire! Just kidding, I'm sure that 1200 miles.

G614 tires are very good tires but I think it was over kill. A good set of LT tires would probably do well enough. But I'm sure you will be happy with the 614s.

We've got 5 G614's, but as Kevin said many have been just fine with a good LT tire. Quite a few have had bad experiences with the Marathons.

I have 5 Marathons For Sale. $200.00 for all 5. They have about 400 miles on them.

I replaced them with the G614's.

If your rims are TR6 rims, they are rated for 80 pounds.

I've read too much about not using different size tires on the axles that I don't run this way. Others do, but like traveling with an overweight rig, why chance it if things fail under normal conditions, why create adverse ones. I always include the spare on swapouts when they are the same size. That extra money spent will always be less than whatever is spent down the road.

As described, do check the stamping on the rim and do replace the valve stems with all metal. I think with your model rig and it being heavier and more capable than my '06 you will probably be okay. The cost of doing it now will be less than whatever you spend on a mishap later. That's just my take.
