Antenna Broken

Apparently I scraped my "down position antenna" with a tree branch at some point, as when I cranked it to raise it this campout I heard a "clunk" and when I went out to look saw a single rod with no "wings" and loose wire dangling. Since I'm not a roof climber I'll have my handyman check it when I get home... in the meantime, looking at my owner's manual I cannot tell... would I have an "amplified" Winegard? I have a 2009 Montana Mountaineer Hickory Edition and cannot determine which type I would have installed from factory. The manual references both amplified and non-amplified.

Thanks everyone... this forum is fantastic for a lone traveller who occasionally needs advice and/or moral support. Thanks for the assists. I am looking forward to a trip with no need to visit the forum, actually.

Has nearly happened to me a couple of times, so close. As long as you have to replace it anyway, consider upgrading for best digital reception.

The batwing attaches to the roof mast that cranks up and down. It could be the roof mast, which the inside crank assembly is part of, could be OK. I'd try and get someone up on the roof before you move the unit. All parts may be laying up there. Yours will be an amplified model. Jim

you may wish to consider a "Jack" antenna, it is a 5 minute swap, more reliable and harder to damage... and fully compatible!!! as far as "digital" an antena does not care wether dig or analog.... just as an FM antena could not be better or worse for stereo...
In any event hope your up down stick is ok and that all you need is a head unit...
best of luck!!!!!!

I would check it to make sure that it is still water tight and rain can't get in.

I would bet your 2009 has an amplified antenna. I would check the roof; when that happened to me, the antenna hit the roof and left a six inch cut in the roof that required a patch.
