battery charge

Just noticed that my converter with IQ Smart Controller was flashing rapidly last afternoon and I checked it again this afternoon and it was still rapidly charging. I took the batteries out and checked the voltage. About 12.4 volts. I put a charger on one and it is charging right now. I will check it in the morning.
Question is, should the converter keep the batteries charged in cold weather? We are not using the 5th for anything this winter.
I may need new batteries. They are about 2007 vintage. I hope I have no converter problems. I do have 2 batteries in parallel.
The battery disconnect switch has been turned on all winter.

Yes your charging system should keep the batteries charged in cold weather. Could be one of the batteries has past its prime.

After overnite charge, one battery appears to have taken a charge. The other is now charging, I will check voltage on first battery later today after it sits without a load and see if it holds.

I just added the Charge Wizzard to mine, after moving to a new CG, I noticed that it takes a few days for it to stop flashing fast, and go to flash every 5 seconds. I only have 1 battery.

Battery replacement averted for now I think. I just put one battery back in and turned on power. Checked circuit breaker panel and for some reason, the breaker was tripped for the inverter circuit. Will continue to monitor. Voltage at the battery with shore power on is 13.58 volts.

The IQ-4 will flash fast for 24 hours when power is applied to the system after being on the road, no matter how long or short the trip. It will also flash fast every 7 days for a day. This is Bulk charging.
