propane regulator

9.Propane regulator reads erratic sometimes all red, sometimes all green, sometimes half red. Half green.
Item 9 on our list of problems dated June 23 2012.3402 had been delivered two weeks earlier. It did not show on the PDI

Item 9. Propane regulator still does that but it works. Service center would not replace since it works. Will just wait till it fails and replace at our own expense"

Service centers action at the 2012 fall rally.

Last night 10:30PM temp 38 degrees. The furnace had been running but now the camper was cooling off. Fridge on propane indicated loC which means no propane glow.

Both tanks were full yesterday as I had just filled one and installed it.

regulator is showing red on both tanks. I am not upset or mad or angry I am livid. Both tanks are of course full...
'
I am so angry at the %$#@@! service center and Keystone that I banged the regulator with a rock and it slowly returned to half red half green and the furnace came on.

I had purchased a spare regulator waiting for this one to fail which it did. Now to replace something that should have been replaced in June of 2013. I have got to get rid of this....thing...

Rich, it's long past time. Write to trailer life and google lemon law and sites like this come up: http://www.lemonlawamerica.com/lemon-law-rv Maybe it's time to get a lawyer involved.

We have a very good friend who is a attorney that deals with just this kind of thing. It is not as easy as it may sound but It has been my practice to document with Keystone every issue we have with our Montana's. We are familiar with the lemon laws in Ohio and it does not look like we would be successful. At this point we just want this thing gone. We have zero confidence in its reliability.

Ours has never totally turned color to red - maybe 1/2, maybe 2/3, but it's always changed tanks. We've also got the dreaded second (red color) regulator on the curb side tank. From all I've read so far, I'm just waiting for disaster to strike!

The oil in the propane will make them stop working properly. The first sign that they have oil build-up in them is the gauge will show 1/2 red.

Is there a way to flush the oil out? Just curious for future reference.

OR the feeding tank is empty and it has switched over to the opposite tank.

I encountered a similiar problem this past summer. Changed red regulator, automatic changeover regulator, hoses etc. NO luck. DO NOT comment on how I troubleshot the solution as I KNOW it is dangerous. I found the 1/4 to 3/8 reducer on the driver side clogged with debris or something that stopped flow when it felt like it. Take your's off and see if you can blow through both directions.

Rich,

Is it possible that the regulator is freezing up? Pour some hot water over it to see. Although the temp is only 38 degrees, the tank will get a lot colder as the gas goes out of the tank.

I don't know. Had 5 previous Rv's and never saw a half red half green indicator. This one was bad from the start as we noticed in just a couple of weeks after delivery.

It is half red half green now. Both tanks were full as we had just changed and switched over the day before.
We do have a spare and we will change it out. It did not change over and both tanks were reading red (empty) although they were both full the day before. Such is life.

I learned many years ago, the more butane mixed with propane in cold weather, the more trouble I had
