3295 vs 3400

Looking to get new Montana.

Don't see too much about 3295 but lot of happy 3400 owners.

What is wrong with 3295?

Hi Illapah,

There are many happy 3295RK owners here, including us. Before the 3400RL came out a couple of years ago the 3295RK was the biggest seller in the Montana line. At this time the 3400RL is the biggest seller, per the factory tour we took in July, and the 2955RL is second. I'm not sure where the 3295 fits in that lineup these days. But there's "nothing wrong" with the 3295RK as far as I am concerned. It is a very well balanced unit. Tows beautifully.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

I have some friends from my marina that just purchased a slightly used 3295RK. They were all set on the 3400RL until they came across the 3295RK. The deal was right and the floorplan had a better "fit" for their needs, the last I heard they are thinking of going south this coming winter.

We got our 2006 3295 in December of '05 and we love it!! The storage is awesome, and the floorplan terrific... We just got home from an 11,000 mile-3 1/2 mo trip with it, and love it more & more. Here are some things we love about it:
.lots of counter space in the kitchen
.lots of kitchen storage
.can access the island cabinets from both sides
.computer desk is away from the TV, so computer user not in the way of the person watching TV, nor does the TV bother computer person
.can access refrigerator and counter for making lunches on the road without putting the slider out (big plus...)
.hubby loves the underneath storage--nothing is crammed in
.great storage in the bedroom for clothes-big drawers & closet
.we use the washer/dryer closet for storage in some heavy-duty plastic drawers, and as our coat closet which is nice to have at the door.

I don't like people walking through my kitchen while I am preparing a meal, they certainly don't with this model. However they can help from either side if the island, if needed.

Hubby didn't have any problems towing with our 2500 GMC and we pulled some pretty steep grades a time or two. The hitch weight is heavy, but he installed Super Springs which gave an extra boost. The only thing he noticed in pulling it, is the need to swing wide. We had no difficulty getting into campsites on our trip at all.

Many MOC'ers have this model and I have never read anything negative about it. I personally use tension bars across the upper kitchen cupboards just in case a door flies open.

You have to see what fits your RV style--this fits us.

The 3295 was our first choice. Our eyes just got bigger and bigger and we settled on the 3400Rl which was actually our 3rd choice.

Agree with ronnilu, specially the part about the computer desk NOT being near the blue flicker of death (the tele)

There was a time when desk location was important to me. Not any more. Not since I discovered a laptop works great on my lap while I sit in a comfortable easy chair! The desk gets used for storage now.

Steve

You are perfect example of life styles morfing! HAHA

I have yet to figure out how to scan and print and research from the lazy chair. I know you use a wireless router thingy, or did at one time. But, I still gotta put stuff in that scanner and well, the desk is still easier for me!

Nope. My chair is where the dining table used to be. Within easy reach of the usb cable for the printer sitting on the desk. This, by the way, will not work in the new one since we're swapping couch and chair locations.

I just gave my Dad my flatbed scanner since I've not used it in the past 3 1/2 years. A digital camera meets most all my scanning needs these days. With your geneaology work a scanner would be required, however.
