Shower/tub faucet and AC
On our trip to Colorado and Utah (last summer) we had the A?C freeze up several times, especially after a day of travel. Is this a common problem? We could not cool down the coach until very late or in the middle of the night. Our Monty has a 15,000 btu A/C.
Is there a faucet, for an RV, that has 1 lever to control water temperature in the shower/garden tub? The faucet we have has two knobs on the tub ledge and is it hard to control the water temp, when you're showering.
Any help is appreciated.

Don't know if this your problem, but A/C's will freeze up when low on freon.

The shower temp problem sounds like one that has been discussed here before, you might want to try a search (see top of the page), as there was some great discussion on that. Our experience is that if you turn the shower head off to soap up, when you turn it back on, you are gonna get hit with a blast of cooler water. This has been the way of all of our RV's since 1984, so, we have just learned when you want to rinse, turn that shower head away from you for a few seconds till it stablizes.
As far as a replacement shower head, have no idea, interesting idea tho!
The a/c problem, I will leave for some others, who will surely be along soon to give you some ideas!
Cheers,
Carol

On both of our Montanas the DuoTherm a/c unit would freeze up when running the fan on low. Try running the fan on high and see if that helps.

During the walk through of our 2005 327RKS TT the tech told us that if we had any problems with the A/C freezing up or if it wouldnt start to notify them ASAP. He stated there is a known issue with them and that they would replace the unit within a week if we ever had the problem. So far no problem. You may want to check with your dealer.

Vicki spoke to our experience with DuoTherm AC units freezing up with fan on low speed but thought I'd clarify that's during high humidity situations. I neglected to mention that to her when she asked. This has been a DuoTherm problem for a number of years, in every make of RV using that brand. They're a good unit but do have this quirk. Since running ours only on high speed we've had no freezeups at all and we've been in some very humid situations.
I'm not positive but I heard any standard house type faucet will fit in the Montanas. You just need one that will work with the shower hose.

We had the same problem..with freeze up. Running the fan on high really helped, but is so loud, I put the fan on low while watching TV. Then run it on high the rest of the time. So far so good, running 50% high, no freeze up yet.

A standard houshold pressure balanceing valve would work... but the way this thing is plumbed it would take major surgury. Not worth the hassle... but if the factory installed valves ever break....

There is a bullatin out on this, you should check DuoTherms web site. Our dealer relocated the temp. sensor and so far we have not had the problem again. We will see if the relocation works this summer when the weather will be hotter.
