Best water pressure regulator
2007 3400RL. Currently camping for a week in Amarillo, TX. Went to hook up our water supply yesterday when we arrived and my Camco water pressure regulator started leaking like a sieve. I have the Camco one with the nice gauge on it and a valve supposedly adjustable with a screwdriver. This is the second one of these that I have bought and lasted barely over a year. What brand/model of pressure regulator do most of you use? TIA.

Got mine from RVwaterfilterstore.com and it's still good after 9 years of full timing. Expensive, yes, but not when you figure I only had to buy one.

I also gave up on the Valterra and Camco regulators, just didn’t hold up well. After the last failure, I purchased a Watts LFN45B-M1 regulator and fittings for both ends to adapt it to hose connections. That has been several years ago and I don’t have to adjust it or mess with it and it keeps the pressure right where it’s supposed to be. I have a fitting that has a pressure gauge on it that I keep connected in the convenience center. This regulator can be rebuilt with available kits, but have not needed to do that. This was a bit more costly than the RV types, but it seems to be reliable.

Like DQDick, I bought my unit from RV Water Store. That was 12 years ago in Quartzsite and it has worked ever since. It is the 263A-LF Regulator with stainless oil filled gauge

I must be missing something as we have the generic regulator that came with new trailer. A lot of the RV parks have regulators attached to the faucet. Is there an advantage to these more expensive regulators? With my generic regulator the water pressure is quite slow in the bathroom. Is it possible my regulator is getting plugged up?

The dealer must have given you the generic regulator as Montana's don't come with one. They are set to 45 P.S.I. max. They have a smaller passage and the pressure seems to go lower as they age.
That regulator on the RV park;s water supply is a anti-siphon valve, not a pressure regulator.
Get one of the above recommended regulators.

The cheap fixed 'regulators' are nothing more than a restrictor with no moving parts and water flow is usually marginal at best. I originally had one that was rated at 45 psi, and due to low water flow I purchased a Valterra one that was rated at 50-55 psi. This had a little better flow but did not hold the static pressure at the range printed on it. The following photos show this regulator, and the square part with the rubber insert is driven into the bore with the rubber side against the hole inside, so I suppose the water pressure has to squeeze past the rubber face of the square part that is against the hole to make it's way into the trailer. I have found the better adjustable regulators hold the pressure as they are set at and provide much better flow.

Thanks Carl. Every time I go on this forum I learn something valuable. I guess after all these years I need to upgrade my pressure regulator. Thanks again.
