Brand New Montana Owner

Hello everyone,
I just joined this forum yesterday and I have a ton of questions. So much that you will probably be sick of me after the first week.
My wife and I have been camping in a 2005 Fleetwood Niagara popup for the last 5 years. We were pretty satisfied with our trailer but we are getting tired of the set up. Last week the deal of a lifetime fell in our laps in the form of a 2007 Montana 3000RK. I have always thought this trailer has the best floorplan I have ever seen.
I also have put the cart before the horse. I bought the trailer before having a truck to pull it. That will be some of my questions. Purchasing a truck, hitch and pulling this thing safely. I have had a CDL for 30 of the 34 years, while I am employed with Colorado Springs Utilities. I know a little bit about towing, but this thing is a monster.
I have looked through this forum, but I am still trying to get used to it.
Thanks for the add!

Welcome to the forum! You'll need to use the sticker on the Montana to get dry weight and then add at least 1500# much more if you full time. Figure at least 25% for pin weight and then find a truck that will more than handle it.

Congratulations, and welcome.
Hope this helps.

https://www.rvusa.com/rv-guide/2008-...n-3000rk-tr192

Specs show
Dry Weight. 10,560 lbs.
Payload Capacity. 3,930 lbs.
Hitch Weight. 2,190 lbs.

Do your homework. Recently read a sad story about a guy who bought an rv, then got an SUV to tow it. Salesman swore it could handle it.....
Now he is stuck with both....

Welcome to the forum from Arizona. When looking for a truck be sure to go Diesel.
