The Story of the "Montana" sign

We were in Montana at Glacier National Park. We went for a ride on the Going To The Sun Rd and at the east end there is a souvenir gift shop. We went in and saw the Montana Blvd sign there but it was very expensive as was everything else in the store. So cheapo Dennis wouldn't pay that much, there are other souvenir shops in town. On our way back to our park we stopped at the Park Office at the top of the mountain and met Glenn Adams there who took the bus up there. Any of our long time MOC members knew or knew of Glenn. He was Mr. Montana and the webmaster. We gave Glenn and Lorraine a ride back down. I told him of the sign there and said we were looking elsewhere for one. We probably spent $30 in fuel looking for one in Kalispell. There were none to be found. So we went back to the souvenir shop and bought that one. Well, Glenn went there also but after I did but I bought the only one they had. So Glenn always said I had his sign. For anyone who has not been to Glacier, it's a long ride from one end to the other. So that's how we ended up with the sign. Glenn has past on but every time I look at the sign I think of him and what a good friend he was to all of us.

Dennis made the stand for the sign. Any rally we have been lucky enough to attend, the sign is put out. So come on out to the Fall Rally this year and get your picture taken by the "Montana" sign.

The story is also posted on Facebook in the Montana RV Owners Group.

Can you possibly post a picture of the sign for the poor unfortunates who are unable to attend the rally?

Thanks for the true story behind the sign. And particularly the part involving Glenn. Having met him a couple of times, it brings back fond memories of who I considered the backbone of the MOC forum! GREAT POST!!

We do miss Glenn. And Dennis put out his sign at one of the Quartzsite gatherings. It was a great sight! Thanks, HamRad

Thanks for sharing the sign story, and for the smile I got on my face thinking about Glen. He and I had a lot in common, he was retired from the tire business and I was still active in it, so we had a lot of interactions with each other (all good), we also shared the same birthday. I always thought of Glen as a true friend, unfortunately he passed on before we had the opportunity to meet in person.

The forum, while still great, is not quite the same as when Glenn and Steve Regal were active. Of course, Steve is very much alive and a great guy, but he is no longer the MOST active member of the forum he was when he was the only holder of the "MOC Legend" title. Isn't he still the WIZARD of the MOC???

Those were the days! Thanks Glenn and Steve!

OK, I note that I misspelled Steve's name: Just a typo, should be Reigle.
