Is Yours Like This?

I’ve noticed something with the floor. The living room floor has two high spots (crowns) that run fore and aft the length of the living room about 1’ in from the outside walls. There is a slight depression in the center of the floor between the two high-spots, and then the floor slopes down from the high spots to the outside on both sides of the living room. On the driver side, it slopes under the kitchen slide. On the passenger side it slopes toward the entry door and under the dinette/recliner slide. I had seemed to notice the slope under the kitchen slide a couple of times walking between the island and the slide but thought it was my imagination. But I retrieved a 4’ level from the house and laid it down on the floor and there is definitely a slope. And that’s when I discovered the two high spots and the depression in between (I hadn’t noticed it walking).

First picture is kitchen slide front, next is center floor front, next is dinette/recliner slide and last is center floor rear.

That sounds like the floors are sagging from the weight of the walls outside of the main I beams and between the beams as well?? They keep building these trailers lighter and lighter, is such sagging really surprising to anyone?

Yes, the crown looks like over the I-beam, and sag in the middle and on both sides. My concern is that this is a two month old camper. It's 12,000lbs dry, so not a real light camper.

It does seem a bit much, but we've always had carpeting in all 3 of our Montana's, so ours could have been similar. Some RV owners with animals or that pretty much live in their units prefer vinyl floors … we prefer animals stay outside and doubt if we ever leave the stick house behind, so carpeting works for us. I'd say shoot the photos and a short note to a Keystone district rep and see what comes of it.

I just sent the pictures (plus others) to my dealer today. I'll see what they say.

Something tells me that Thor has finally reached the edge of building these things with the very least amount of material and bottom construction cost they can squeeze out of them. At some point the frame simply becomes to light to support the walls and roof. With no load bearing middle walls (or very few) in part due to slides these things are right on the edge of falling apart from their own weight. I suspect we will be seeing more and more of this stuff in the future......
