And don't forget to ask for your America the Beautiful Senior Pass discount, if you have one.

Good info. We stay at the Corp sites all the time. Lot of good ones here in central Arkansas.

Thought we had discovered a new inexpensive campground source but we see we are not the first. Staying at the MAUMELLE Campground in Little Rock Arkansas run by the Corps of Engineers. Only $11.00/night with senior pass. No sewer but 3 dump stations. Some sites back right up on the Arkansas river. Beautiful sunrises. Really nice campground.

Arizonacouple,
We were just there last weekend trying out our brand new Montana. We usually stay at that park at least once a year. Lot of good COE campgrounds along the Arkansas River. We will be at John F Kennedy COE park on the Little Red River weekend of Nov 4 to do a little trout fishing. There are several good COE parks on Greers Ferry lake. We dock our cabin cruiser at Choctaw on the far West end of the lake.

Ram,
Only downside to Recreation.Gov would be the 3 day delay in communications with some local campsites. I have displaced walkup campers before and have been displaced when I was a walkup by someone who made reservations online. It isn't a problem at all COE campgrounds but it is at more than a few. My recommendation is ALWAYS make your reservations online and at least 4 days in advance....

Oh by the way we are currently at a COE campground (JFK near Heber Springs, AR. to trout fish). Nearly all the COE campgrounds in our area start off season walk up only schedules today thru March. That means no online reservations during that timeframe.
