Yellowstone advice

I want to thank all our MOC friends for their help finding a great spot in the Black Hills of SD., now we are heading to Yellowstone and again would appreciate some advice finding a great campground. I have been checking on line but really nothing beats the experience of actually having been their and done it. Being the 4th is comming up probably won't make it any easier either. Thanks everyone for all your help.

We spent a week at Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone. The sites are tight and probably cost more than over in west Yellowstone but is a better location as it is quite a drive from west Yellowstone.

Thanks Steve, Grizzly was all booked but we did manage a site for 10 days. Rustic Wagon wheel or something along that name. Wow they were asking an arm and leg at some of the campgrounds! Up in the $70s for one night! Thank you for all your help & we can't wait to see it.

Butch and Zaida,
I think that is the place we stayed when we were in Yellowstone. Is it sort of on the west side of town? If so that is the one. Nice enough. It was nothing special but was a nice quiet place to stay and while expensive it was probably more reasonable than some of the other parks. Hope it all worked out for you. Dennis

Have never stayed in West Yellowstone but West Yellowstone seems to have the most options.

We spent the first week of June at Rocky Mountain RV in Gardiner (North Gate). This is our 2nd visit there and we like it quite a bit. You are closer to your neighbors than I like but not nearly as close or as tight as Fishing Bridge. Plus they have 50amp service unlike Fishing Bridge.

We just pulled into West Yellowstone today. Staying 2 Miles North of town in Forest Service cg. No hookups but $8.00 a night (Golden Access Pass). With electric it is $14 (with pass). Guess we will stay until Lady Gaga is full (Black Tank).

We stayed at Red Rock Ranch at Island Park, ID. It's 5 miles down a paved road from the highway. Very quiet and a nice park near Henry's Lake. The drawback is that it's 23 miles to the west Yellowstone gate. We stayed there for a month back in 2005. I recommend the park but be aware of the distance.
