Removing sealant from around front ventilator

What's the best way to remove the sealant from around the front vent(bedroom). I don't want to scrape forfear of cutting the rubber roof. any ideas?
Also do I have to worry about the down angle on the front of the roof for the air conditioner. Looks like it is well within the five degrees called for in the instructions.

I used a plastic putty knife, veeeeerrrrry carefully when I was removing some old putty. It had a rather dull edge on it but I still had to be careful.

When I put in the Fantastic Fan in the bedroom vent location the putty that Keystone used was very easy to remove. When I put the Fantastic Fan in I used Dicor caulk and then Eternabond over the flange of the vent. Works great.
