Quartzsite, Arizona - January 17-25, 2009

WOW! It is already time to start planning our annual gathering of the Montana's in Quartzsite.

This event is a gathering of MOC members with very little agenda. We typically have a lot of visiting, a visitors day with pot luck snacks, and a camp fire each night.

Here is the link to the RV show there.
http://www.quartzsitervshow.com/

Please let me know if you want to attend the gathering in Quartzsite.

Dates: January 17-25, 2009 in Quartzsite on Plomosa Road.

We will have a MOC sign posted on Plomosa Road to show you where to turn off the road to get to the gathering area.

We will be there from Jan. 17-25, but any of you that want come earlier or stay longer can because the camping on Plomosa Road is free.

There are no hook ups, water, or sewer dumps in the Plomosa Rd. area. Quiet generators are required for power. (Please do not use the contractor type generators}.

If you need water or sewer service you will need to call the honey wagon service and they will come out to the area and take care of your rig on site.

Doug, Time sure does fly. Carolyn and I were making our plans for after the 1st of the year and were just waiting to find out the dates for Quartzsite. We will be there around the 15th or 16th and leave toward the end of the month. From there we are planning on going to the Western Pyrotechnics Convention and Fireworks Show in Lake Havasu Feb 11th thru the 15th which also overlaps the Lake Havasu Rockabilly Reunion.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Doug,

Amazing how time flies. We are planning on being there early enough to help setup the "Real Circle".

Just looked at the calendar and realized there are only 147 days, 4 hours and 57 minutes and 16 seconds until the Quartzsite Rally!

Doug - we will be there --hope to be there for about a week, but the arrival date will depend on our work schedule as volunteers at Organ Pipe Nat'l Monument this winter. We'll let you know more precisely after we arrive at Organ Pipe on Dec. 1 and get our work schedule.

Let us know what we can do to help.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Doug, Since we don't have a "quiet generator" like the one's I hear running all day and some throughout the night, we will not be attending any of YOUR MOC events this year.

Maybe some of you who can't justify purchasing a"quiet" generator for week to 10 days out of 365, would like to form our own circle. When we started group "camping" it didn't matter what type of rig/tent, truck or "Bells and whistles", anyone had, we just got together, without prejudice and had a good time. My how times have changed. We are not "campers" any more we are "RVers". Let us hear from those of you who share the same beliefs. We make our coffee on the stove, so we won't wake anyone. Not sorry we will not be attending.

Doug,

Kathy and I wouldn't miss it for anything. As you know we came last year for 2 days and stayed 2 weeks.

Don and Judy,

The Quartzsite rally is a place where everyone is invited to attend and have fun. In fact, SOB’s have even been invited to the “MOC” rally group.

Last year there were no rules about being a courteous camper, and several people brought construction generators. Construction generators are more efficient in the construction trade than the RV ones, but this is not the construction trade, this is where people with sensitive ears want to be able to talk with each other and sleep soundly at night without that clanging sound.

You might be thinking that you’re being discriminated against because you own a construction generator. Not so. Last year, for those who attended, all know the obnoxious sound of not being able to even talk while in the circle when those generators were on, this is not so with the RV generators. So, in the interest of the many, don’t you think it is better to be courteous? No one wanted to offend anyone last year, so Doug did the right thing here, he asked in advance.

Don and Judy, please don’t spoil the intent of the request, it was made for the courtesy of all and not directed specifically at you. There were others last year who left those construction generators on long past any reasonable quiet hour of any park or group camp.

Just to make it right with you, and hope that you will attend, you are welcome to use our generator the whole time you are attending. If this is still not acceptable, we will truly miss you.

Doug;We could hardly wait for you to start this thread, we are soooo looking forward to the Quartzsite "circleing of the wagons" We could easily be there by the 10th if you need help in setting up your circle ,as long as you keep it "in bounds" . We plan on staying 'til it's all over, then slowly heading down to Gilla Bend, and points South, let us know when you guys plan on being there-----------Dave & Kelly

Robbie, appropriately stated, thank you. We hope that no one is offended by the many of us that appreciate "courteous campers". We also realize that those who have construction generators may not have even been aware that the generators were a problem. Perhaps something should have been said after the Quartzsite event last year on the forum. It would have given everyone more time to think about it and maybe those who have the construction generators could have thought about it from the standpoint of those who have RV generators. Anyway, the point is: this is a relaxing, low-keyed and fun rally for friends to get together and enjoy each others company. Don and Judy, we do hope that you and any others who are thinking about not attending because of your generator will reconsider. We loaned one of our generators last year to someone who did not have one and we would certainly be willing to lend one again this year. If any of you should decide not to attend, we will miss you.

Renee & Michael
