Great Neighbors
Our "home base" is located in the Peoria Illinois area. With 5 grown kids and 10 grandkids in a 150 mile radius we decided most of our summers would be spent here. The last 4 months we were in Mt. Hawley RV Park in Peoria. Good rates, clean, close stores, not bad. Never really got to know many fellow campers. Yesterday we finally got a spot at Carl Spindler RV Park in East Peoria (across Illinois River). Backed in and started setting up and within an hour 5 couple had walked over and introduced themselves! One couple a few sites down have been full timing for 34 years, another couple have been at it for over 10 years. It is amazing to us the difference between these two RV parks. The facilities are about the same but the folks in them are sure different. It sure makes a difference when you have friendly neighbors and they make you feel welcome.

Generally the RV folks are more friendly than that. Sounds like the first park you were in the folks should have stayed with S&B. That's how normal S&B neighborhoods seem to be these days.

We have also stayed in both types you mention. Was in one in FL 2 years ago and people would look at us as if to think "Who are you and what are you doing in MY park!". Have found that the good far outweighs the bad.

Our park in Florida where we winter actually has split the park in twod sections, one for seasonals and one for shorttimers, just because of that attitude.

Being the owner of a large breed dog I find the greatest tension occurs at the Piddle Patch among dog owners. Then of course there are those inconsiderate owners that go away and leave their dogs barking for hours in their RV's, or bark at you every time you walk past. Parks with seasonal and park models also tend to have those who think they are superior to us "have not" temporary visitors.
In most cases I find I am the one to introduce myself and initiate a conversation with my neighbors and I "always" offer to help when I see someone with problems.

I can't say enough good about the folks at Mt. View RV Park where we now have home base. Friendly, courteous, quick to waive as you ride by, good neighbors all around!
