The Ozz-man and Sue need your hep....
I know there are many folks out there, that have an eye for design and balance in decorating and landscaping. To you talented folk, I am asking directing my plea, for your ideas.
We have a 6 month lock on our RV Lot in South Padre. We were extremely lucky to get it, as it is large and has lots of area to decorate. We would like to have......I don't know.
An area for visitors to sit, relax and grill, feel comfortable.
I will be pulling into the space, parking to the side of the back of the Monte, with parking for visitors.
Here are the pictures of our space.
Our lot in South padre;

You sure got a nice lot there Ozz. I think that's in the county park huh? We stopped in the office there while on the island, and man they had a steady stream of traffic in and out. I'm not much on decorating, but just put the grill close to the beer cooler. Hope that helps. Man I'm looking forward to being back down that way.

We watched a guy next to us once set up a screened gazebo-like tent structure over a picnic table - gave him a nice area away from the bugs. There may be rules about how long something (carpet, etc)might be in place - kills the grass, you know. Are you responsible for mowing? Someone on here (I think) sets up plastic flamingos and a grass bar and/or grass umbrella ala Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville..

Jim they sell those gazebo type coverings, run down to the city and get a dispensing license and your in business. OR just dispence until you get caught, a few of us will come down and bail you out.(after the beer is gone). Very nice spot. Your very lucky to get a site that size without buying it. I sure would make a deposit for next year as soon as you can. The Baby Boomers are just starting to turn 62, so RGV is going to be very busy. Best get you site asap, and keep it. Looking forward to coming down Christa and I will do the SUnday Brunch with Sue and You and who ever else shows up. FOLKS THAT SUNDAY BRUNCH AT THE SHERATON HOTEL IS SOMETHING TO BRAGG ABOUT RIGHT OZZ....

Ozz, I'm not much of a decorator/landscaper either, but next to the beer cooler and grill, you gotta have shade. Natural or artificial, but shade, .
That's a really nice place you have there, maybe someday we can come visit.

I vote for the curvy one with white marble chips. The green metal edging is cheaper and very "curvable". I bet you can get all the "paddle cactus" you want for free!! People will be glad to let you take whatever you want to dig up. Irises are something else folks may let you dig up for the "dividing". Cannas are very tropical looking also - they could provide you with some privacy. Stepping stones and malibu lights are a nice touch, also.

Thanks, VanMan, I'll add that to my lot redo file; Dan, we have plenty of that cold wet stuff here in Mo., that's why I am a block from the Ocean, as far South in Texas as my truck will take us. Look at the Green Texas on your map, I will be at that very tip on the bottom... Come on October!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are plenty of both down there, kinda appropriate. The lot has potential, a little rough right now, roomy, but homely.
The best part is the location, a block from the beach, and a block the other way to the Chanel that takes the big boats up to Brownsville. We see the big tankers, oil rigs being barged out to sea, lots of neat stuff floating by every day. The Dolphins play there, and there are boat tours up that Chanel. Boca Chica is across it, a thin finger of sand and beach, then Mexico.
Come on down, I'll give tours.......

We took a road trip over to Boca Chica inlet last year, you drive into Brownsville, then take Boca Chica Blvd. onto the beach miles down the road. We then traveled on the beach for more miles down the road until we hit the end. This is the very tip of Texas, Mexico is across the Rio Grand river just a stones throw away from our road, we had to pass a Border Checkpoint. A neat drive, took some pictures.
We drove 50-60 miles or so, ended up a few hundred feet from our campground, across the Chanel, you can see the hotels on Padre Island in the picture.

Ozz, I'm just curious. What happens the other six months you don't have the lot? Can the other lessor change what you have done, as far as plants, trees or whatever?

Every long timer makes improvements to their lot, I guess it's just the luck of the draw when you aren't there, but there are so many nice lots with flowers, plants and even sod brought in, that have survived for many years. I have been told stories that people left fishing rods, some personal things and they disappeared, but improvements seem to be undisturbed. I do know a person will be chancing it.

You might catch some tropical plants on sale at Lowe's or Home Depot toward the end of the summer. I picked a couple up a year or two ago at the Home Depot for $3.99. We have probably 5 or 6 babies off one of them. DW gave it a haircut and stuck down them limbs. It is similar to a corn plant but I don't know just what it is. It likes the summer here in East TX. Hibiscus plants should also do well there. We have a couple of those here also. Citrus maybe; but they sure attract bees, and I think they have the Africanized bees down there. Makes me wonder; I stuck a couple pineapple tops down in the flowerbed at Port Mansfield. They were still green when we left.
