I replaced them with 90 degree nipples so they are easy to reach and grease with my electric grease gun....did that last time I pulled the wheels and greased the bearings, checked brakes etc.

Why change them? I use the ones that came on the unit using a hand pump grease gun with a flexible hose on it.

Mine was missing many after my first trip away from purchasing rig. Had to replace those as well as tightening others. Since my rubber hosed gun wouldn't fit onto some of them, I changed those out with angled ones from a farm supply store nearby. John

I have replaced them with 45 degree angle because my grease gun does not have a flex hose on it, and the old nipples are behind the tires. thanks everyone

Replaced mine with 45 and 90 degree zerks. When we put on the bigger Sailun tires, could not get on the straight zerks even with a flexible hose on the gun.

quarter inch 28 taper....... did two of mine yesterday and had to unseize two other bolts with large half inch Johnson bar which then allowed grease to flow into those as well. The things winter does to these sitting around..........sheesh

Don't mean you turned bolt that goes through shackle? The bolt has a knurled (sp) that keeps the shaft from turning. Force turning them strips the knurling.

There is no such thing as a stupid question, only answers. The grease nipples are on the shackles bolt on YOUR suspension!!!!

You will only have the grease fittings if you have the wet bolt kit installed. I would think your 2014 would have it. I had to install it on my Mountaineer.

One thing you have to remember on greasing the wetbolts is that it is much easier to get grease into them IF you have the weight off of them by jacking up that side and then greasing them unless you have a power grease gun. DON'T JACK ON THE AXLE, however, unless you are jacking at the U-bolts!

Guess it's time for me to check the shackles. I was getting ready to check size and order the wet bolt shackle, but it sounds like I need to look as the Monti may have them

Learn something everyday. Thanks

Steve, I don't believe that the High Country comes with wet bolts.

My 2010 3000RK didn't come with wet bolts. Stopped by Mor Ryde on trip to East coast and had them installed. Found out later that two of the had not been drilled clear through and weren't getting grease. They sent me new parts to fix problem. Also switched to 45 degree zerts.

bigred, how did you find out that the bolts weren't drilled thru? Did something fail?

While pumping grease gun, you should see grease come out near shackles. If you are unable to pump the gun, either the zirk is plugged or the holes were not drilled properly. That is assuming you have grease in the gun!

Best grease for the job? And can it be used for the Dexter easy lube hubs?

Patrick, your dexter axle book lists approved grease vendors...eleven of them. If you don't have the book, info should be on their website www.dexteraxle.com . John

Had my wheel bearing maintenance performed last week, tech needed to replace 6 fittings because they would not take grease.
