Replacement DVD player

Hi, all. I have a 2006 2955RL with the home entertainment center. The DVD player finally shot craps, and I’d like suggestions for a replacement. Just something that works, doesn’t need to be fancy. Would like to retain the present speaker system.

Thanks

Don't know what system came with your monte, but best buy has samsung and Sony home theater systems for small places. The Samsung that they have is a newer version than mine. Both of these systems use small speakers that are only 3 ohm impedance as does my Samsung system. Imagine yours is the same, it is molded or printed on the back of your speakers and new system has to be able to match this.

I am assuming yours is similar to my 2007 3075RL, and that the DVD player is also your surround sound system. And that it is in a fairly small opening under the TV.

Mine failed years ago. Because of the small space available, I measured the height, width, and depth of that space and took that info to Best Buy. They had several models of home theater systems from different manufacturers and different sizes. But only one would fit the space available. It was a Panasonic Blu-ray DVD Home theater system almost exactly the same size. And not expensive. So I bought it. All the home theater systems came with new speakers.

The new speakers were very slightly larger than the old ones which required that I enlarge the cabinet openings slightly. Could have simply used the old speakers, but not too much problem enlarging the openings. New system does not have additional outputs for bedroom speakers, but we never used those any way.

Sound is much better than original. Connected TV audio output to new system aux input for better TV sound. Don’t know that that Panasonic system is available any longer.

10 bucks at Goodwill... if that. Can't recommend a brand... for all intent and purpose they are all basically the same. Find one that fits you available space. If you gotta have new... BB or AMZN should have what you need.

I am surprised the Quest system (I assume that is what you have) lasted this long. Most of them that I know of died a long time ago. As BB_TX wrote, the hole where it was is small and limits the available replacements. However I would think you have replaced the old tube TV with a flat screen of some type and there is that huge space behind it. That seems like a good place to put the replacement unit.

Still have the tube TV, but it’s going away, too.

I moved up to a 32" LED TV from the old boat anchor 27" and I believe you could also.
And that is my Panasonic home theater system below the TV.

That really looks nice. Did you fabicate the shelf for the TV yourself? How did you mount the TV?

I got a little carried away with it. I built an insert to go into the vacated cabinet space and mounted the TV on an articulating mount. Then made a narrow shelf to go under the TV for support while traveling. And have velcro straps that hold the TV in place while traveling. I dabble in wood working, but far from a professional.

Simpler way would be to just install a flat piece of plywood inside the cabinet opening and attach a mount to it.

That’s a beautiful installation. My woodworking skills are limited to installing garden stakes.

The second pic was taken before I attached the velcro. The two top pieces are attached with a screw just under the top edge of the cabinet insert. The two bottom ones are attached to the bottom edge of the insert.

When we set up I pull the two top ones across and attach to each other (behind the TV. And do the same to the two bottom pieces. Unseen unless I pull the TV outward.

I'm waiting for the Jensen in ours to totally give up then will replace it with a decent double DIN car stereo system and a mid line SONY home theater system as I had to do in our last and SOB 5er. That one was a challenge as I needed to totally rebuild the cabinet for a flat screen TV too but this one is current sized for the components.
