Swapped basement struts for magnets
I finally had enough of the basement door struts on the door side of our 3790RD. Every time I spend a little time in there, my back starts hurting as I've been dealing with a back injury for over 4 years now. So, I purchased the magnets from Amazon, bought some @10x3/4" stainless pan head screws, put them on and removed the struts. Now I can access the basement without having to stay bent over under the door. As you probably know, I got the idea from the newer Montanas. There are pros and cons to each way, but I believe I'll like this way better. Time will tell.

With out the struts to assist in lifting, how heavy is door to lift? Can DW lift door easily?
I had already noticed RV manufactures had done away with the struts.

Nice upgrade! I hate the struts as well. We have another camper & all compartment doors are magnets & the doors are all pretty light.

Just disconnect them & see if you are ok, if not reconnect, they aren't real heavy.

My 2018 Montana HC came with magnets instead of struts. You might want to be careful about doing the installation yourself. The factory installed magnets on my unit failed, specifically the forward magnet, as it is not perfectly aligned. It is definitely weaker than the aft magnet. As a result, I was at a campsite that was very uneven and my auto level went crazy. I thought the coach was level, but I guess not perfectly, as the door came down on my head. I suffered a subdural hematoma and had to have surgery.
