Removing stick on border

Has anyone had any luck removing the stick on border that is mid way up on the walls. I'm tired of the look.

From what we've seen in a couple of instances ... it'll be easier to just put a new border over the one you have a heart ache with.

I imagine that this falls into the category of the longer it is there, the harder it is to remove. After 2 years, I could peel off what was behind the glass grease shield below the microwave. John
