Keyless Entry

Installed keyless entry on the Mountaineer this morning. If it works out well, we will install on the other door. Install time about 5 minutes, program time about 30 seconds. Quick and easy mod. We went with the Bauer model.

Bought the same unit at the Rally. Went to install it this AM and the outdoor half slipped out of my hand while I was unwrapping the brown paper - the two were only held together by the little wires! One pair broke and the other pair pulled out of the connector. Why they didn't attach the two halves together with at least one or two screws is beyond me, but I won't be able to repair the wires until we get back home in six weeks or so. At least the new lock set works in manual mode and works MUCH better than our four year old stock one.

We bought one a couple of years ago. It didn't work, Lippert came to the rally and installed a new one and it worked for a couple of months then quit. They gave me another new one at Q last year and it also only worked for a couple of months. We now just use it as a key lock and I do think it's better at that than the OEM one.

Walt, Guess I got lucky, mine was attached together with the screws, and the wire was not plugged in. It should not have been plugged in on yours, has to be unplugged for the install and looking at the size of the plug, I would think it might be a little tough to release, at least for my big fingers.
