How to save on diesel Fuel

Have anyone every tried this? With 4 Vehicles I can save alot..check out this link..

I have no idea about that, but we have a number of ranchers around here who have bought equipment to recycle used restaurant oil into bio-diesel. The joke is it's the only way they get the kids to drive the grain trucks. The combine smells like fries and so they just follow it around the field.

At the price of my new Ford diesel, I think I will stay with pump diesel fuel for now; I am not equipped to filter and manufacture fuel. But,,, interesting concept.

I have looked at a number of alternative ways to fuel my diesel. They all sound good. But they all void your warranty. Also, the newer diesels are built to very high specs and are pollution controlled with filters. Not things to mess with.
I think the alternative fuels for diesels are great for older engines used in cars, tractors and boats. I have a friend with an old Volvo car diesel and he uses only restaurant veggie oil to run it.
Anyway, my two cents.

I have been making Bio-Diesel for the past 5 years and running it up to 100% in my '01 F250. I would be hesitant to run it in newer diesels. I am not concerned with the quality of the Bio, I am concerned about the emission systems in the newer diesels. As for waste motor oil, I would only be willing to run that in a 100% maniacal diesel engine, not any of the new electronically controlled ones. Even then I would not run waste motor oil at more than 5%.

Unfortunatly Camper4 is right. If these were your grand pappys diesel engines we would be fine. Those engines would burn anything from vodka to propane.

A couple of the techs here mixed (I believe 50/50) used transmission fluid and diesel fuel and was running that thru their trucks. Don't know what results they got from it, but we all thought that they were nuts....

Trans fluid is good for the older diesel engines. I have a friend that owns a diesel shop and told me to put a qt in it about every other tank to lub the pump. but if you read the cummins sites its better to use 2 cycle oil. I use what ever I have at the time. As said I don't think you should put them in a late model truck. JMHO

I think I'll pass on this one. I want my DPF to stay clean. You can dump oil into old diesels but not the newer clean diesels.

I think I would question the knowledge of some of those folks. I just read their proceedure for changing the Fuel Filter on a Duramax. They have you remove the old filter (good so far), then pour the fuel from the old filter into the new filter to help keep the injector pump prime (ok, now you're taking any loose particles traped in the fuel in the old filter and dumping them into your brand new filter. Does anyone else see a problem here?) Think I stay with pump Diesel, thank you.

Instead of adding used oil to the fuel tank (risky) has anyone tried using an HHO(Browns gas) unit to make better use of the pump fuel we have to use?? Their claims of increased fuel mileage is probably a wild guess but I have taked to a couple of truckers that said these units were installed on their company trucks and they did make a differance. Any comments or ideas on this technology???
