Got my truck back yesterday

My 6.0 had a cracked EGR cooler which caused truck to smoke and use coolant real fast. Got it back yesterday (diesel truck service center in PA not Ford dealer who said it would be a month before he could get to it).

Water level is staying where it should be in the few miles we have run without pulling. They used the Ford coolant. Also replaced radiator cap. It always seemed to be damp around the cap every time I checked the water now it's not. My Ford dealer has done all my service. Tech said this problem did not give any error codes.

Thinking back, I think this has been a problem for a long time since I have been adding some coolant for quite a while. Guess pulling the mountains in this hot weather made the problem worse. Lucky we got to campground under our own power and now the problem is fixed.

If you have been using coolant for some tine with 6 L you might have a head gasket problem. You said that around the cap was wet so that is probably the problem but still keep a check on the coolant because the 6 L has a problem with head bolts that are too small. The head bolts stretch allowing the head to lift just enough to leak when you are pulling hard.
