My practice is to leave my compartments unlocked. I would rather replace sewer hoses, beer, a fishing rod, or whatever else some scumbag decides to steal from under there than to have to repair locks or door damage. That is part of the reason we don't do overnights in Walmart parking lots or nasty campgrounds. If I don't feel the least bit comfortable when I set up I simply put out my two surveillance cameras. You would be shocked at how many people notice them and make comments if you are in a campground for a few days. But if I was going to secure my doors that is a pretty good quality looking modification.

I'd like to think that my cylinder locks provide some added security, but the reality is if anyone wants in bad enough, they'll get in. I haven't made the final decision on this yet, but I'm really thinking I want to add an alarm system. At least after they break the door open they'll realize everyone is staring at them while the alarm goes off. Maybe I could even leave them unlocked at that point! Then maybe the addition of a few alarm stickers will be the added deterrent. Heck, why rob me when there are so many easier rigs to get into??? See now I'm going to argue with myself. If I have an alarm with posted notes, maybe I'm keeping something really valuable in there and it's worth taking the risk of robbing me... I can't win!

Like my 'ol Daddy used to say, "all a lock is good for is to keep an honest man honest".

Geez, did I not post this in English for everybody to read??? Guess not.

Didn't mean to offend anyone, sorry.
Sorry, but your daddy was mistaken. It will also keep a lazy dishonest person honest.
There's one in every crowd. We learned a long time ago that thieves don't like their picture taken which is why we have 4 motion detection cameras on 24/7. Setting them up is just part of our setup routine. That said about the only time we lock ours is when traveling down the road. I did just order some combo locks like Bigboomer posted. Not for the security, but because I'm too lazy to dig out my keys when the doors are locked.

Hi

All of you are correct.

However with the locks I have a thief will have to do damage that will be very obviously a break in making it much easier to collect from your insurance company and you are unlikely to snag your pants on one of the latches and damage them.

You can go thru one of these doors with a hammer or hatchet with very little effort.
