Flagship Marine RV Security System

At Ozz request, here are some pictures of my installation. Total cost was around $240. with all the extra switches I installed. All switches are in parallel if anyone trips the alarm will go off.

Forget the URL to where to get system: http://flagshipsentry.com/basicalarm.html

This is the control box, mounted in the basement front left side.

Left basement door switches, I used stainless steel screws.

Propane Door, note plastic offset, since doors are not insulated.

Inside contact on propane door.

Access door to raise or lower landing gear.

Look bottom of screen door you will see the door contact. Also you can't see it, but there is a Wide Gap Contact on the stairs, so the alarm will go off if the stairs are put down.

I travel with the alarm on, and have never had a false alarm. Since I installed it, was set off once at the storage place, but there was no damage, or anything broke into. I think someone either put the stairs down or opened the propane door, since neither are locked.

I put the horn up inside the 5th Pin box, and the light is attached on the outside of the pin box next to the electric box where the truck pig tail goes. Don't have picture this.

Here is a picture of where I put the key to turn the alarm on/off. Look just to the right of the smaller door about 2/3 the way up.

Stainless Steel Pick resistance lock.

Nice job, I wondered if anyone has done this. We have an alarm system on our house which utilizes most of what you've used in the coach. Looks pretty easy to do too, thanks for sharing.

I really like the idea of an RV security system like yours. Have to check into it some more...
Does your system come with some kind of paging option so you would know if someone triggered the alarm? Or do you have some way of knowing when it was tripped?
Thanks for the pics and info!

Thanks for the info. I had my 2nd break-in over Christmas. I have been lucky both times. First time only lost the door window. $65 for the replacement. 2nd time they broke in to the basement. Stole my tool bag. About $200 worth of tools. Not willing to try my luck for a 3rd time.

One question: The strobe light. If it was laying flat on the roof will it be noticeable? I would like the light high for visibility.

Mike,

This system will only sound horn for 2 minute (one time only), and the strobe light will continue to flash until reset. I the contact is broke again, the horn will not sound again until you reset it. I do wish the horn would go off again, but it doesn't.

The one time it went off in storage, the owner didn't hear the horn, but did see the light flashing and called me. I went down and reset the alarm, and all has been fine since.

Flagship Marine also has a more expense system, which has some Wireless options, but I don't know what the monthly fees are.
http://flagshipsentry.com/rvsecurity.html

I also found some system that will send a message via cell tower, but they cost around $750, and you pay around $12-15 a month for cell and the company the will receive the alert.

Looks like that is a option for an additional $210 but I think it requires a land line.

I have my strobe one the under side of the pin box. Doesn't show up real well in direct sun light unless you are looking for it. Maybe if I put on the top of the pin box it would be seen better.

You can mount anywhere, just have to run wires. I didn't want it to obvious, which is why I put it under the pin box next to the electrical box for truck connections.

There are some GMS system, but I have no clue what monthly charge would be. Take a look at:

Installation note, make sure the triangles on the contact switch and magnet are on the same ends. If you reverse the magnet, the switch will always trigger, and the alarm will go off.

Just got the alarm Friday but have been sick and unable to do anything with it. Hopefully in the next weekend or two I will get a chance to put it on the Monty.

John,
Nice system thanks for posting again. Did you put alarm switches on windows also or just doors. I am thinking of just doors.
